Port Harcourt — The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC, has taken custody of a crude-laden vessel and two trucks following their interception by the Nigerian Navy Ship, NNS Delta, in Warri, oil rich Delta State.

The marine vessel, Oghenekome, along with the trucks, was seized while allegedly being used to illegally transport crude oil without the necessary permits.

The operation took place at the NIWA jetty, where the Navy’s personnel arrested Samson Uki, the primary suspect, as he attempted to discharge the suspected crude oil into the two trucks.

A representative of the Commander of NNS Delta, Lt. Cdr E.O. Adeola, confirmed that initial investigations revealed the operation was unlicensed.

Receiving the suspects and seized items EFCC Assistant Superintendent, Usman Abdullahi Nuhu, assured that further investigations will be carried out, with possible prosecution to follow.
