GEODynamics launches EPIC Flex Orbit Perforating System for wireline operators

(WO) – GEODynamics formally announced the launch of its EPIC™ Flex Orbit Perforating System. EPIC Flex Orbit extends the capabilities of the EPIC Flex suite of solutions.

EPIC Flex perforating systems provide fully customizable options to integrate addressable switches, charges and detonating cords from virtually any OEM, allowing wireline companies and completions engineers maximum flexibility in the field.

The addition of Flex Orbit to the EPIC product portfolio combines the open-architecture benefits of the EPIC Flex system with advanced self-orienting capabilities for precision shot placement at any desired angle or orientation for enhanced well productivity.

The gravity-based orientation of EPIC Flex Orbit naturally positions perforating charges toward the desired direction, ensuring optimal perforation alignment according to a well plan. The guns can rotate freely within the wellbore, reducing friction and the need for additional orienting subs to maintain directional control.

The EPIC Flex Orbit system offers greater charge placement accuracy to ensure maximum reservoir contact and production efficiency. EPIC Flex Orbit can be used in a variety of wellbore conditions, including horizontal and deviated wells, making them versatile tools for various completions scenarios.

“The EPIC Flex Orbit gun system provides wireline operators with unmatched versatility to adapt to wellbore conditions and field requirements in real time while also helping to increase production and operating efficiency,” said Ron Hickerson, Group Vice President, Downhole Technologies.

“With the Flex Orbit system, wireline operators can complete their jobs faster and with greater accuracy so the operation can move to the next stage faster, which significantly reduces operators’ costs.”
