Honoring Steven B. Hinchman, IPAA’s 43rd Chairman of the Board

The Independent Petroleum Association of America (IPAA) today shared unfortunate news of the passing of Steven B. Hinchman (Steve), the association’s 43rd Chairman of the Board, and steadfast leader during challenging pandemic times.

IPAA President and CEO, Jeff Eshelman, shared the following statement:

I wanted to share the unfortunate news about the passing of IPAA’s 43rd chairman of the board, Steven B. Hinchman (Steve) (07/24/1958–12/28/2024). Hinchman served as chairman of the association from 2018-2020, and in the two years preceding that term he served as vice chairman. Steve was at the helm of our association at the start of the pandemic, overseeing both in-person and the new virtual board meetings during his tenure, and even participated in one of the first in-person meetings with industry and the federal government in 2020.

Our thoughts are with Steve’s family and friends. I, and most of the current staff, had the pleasure to work with and learn from Steve. For that, we are grateful. IPAA is a stronger organization because of his volunteer leadership efforts.
