Description:
 

ConocoPhillips Canada is recruiting a Supply Chain student to work within the Supply Chain team, in partnership with the Operations & Execution teams. The Supply Chain team plays a critical role in helping ConocoPhillips succeed by providing global, commercial, and proactive procurement expertise. Not only do we strive for the effective management of our cost structure, but we also focus on sourcing strategies that support the company’s commitment to safety, environmental and social responsibility.

This role will provide exposure to requisition to payment, market analysis, sourcing, contracting, material management, logistics, analytics, and supplier relations. The Supply Chain Student will report to the Supervisor of Supply Chain Strategy & Compliance and will rotate among all Supply Chain functions and Supervisors (Operations & Maintenance, Wells and Capital Projects).

This position is a 12-month position based in our Calgary office, starting May 2025 with the potential opportunity to work on a short rotation at one of our field operations.

Responsibilities:

  • Support supplier management and requisition to payment activities, including vendor setups, purchasing documentation creation and payment support/troubleshooting
  • Provide support in sourcing and contracting through market analysis, bid issuance/evaluation, negotiation and contract formation
  • Combine analysis of market and/or internal spend trends to assess opportunities for value generation
  • Perform analysis and prepare dashboards for supplier, category, and contract spend as well as contract spend leakage
  • Utilize benchmarking, financial statements, market research sources, and public analyst reports to interpret market conditions and/or to evaluate supplier performance
  • Work with suppliers and internal partners to improve transactional purchasing or eCommerce process execution
  • Identify key cost drivers for a given category of spend and create new or update existing cost models
  • Interact with suppliers on performance management and contract assurance activities
  • Support the planning and execution of material management and/or logistics
     

Required Qualifications:

  • Pursuing a degree in Supply Chain Management (Preferably in 3rd year of study)
  • Student must be returning to school to complete their program after their work term
  • Minimum cumulative GPA of 2.8 on a 4.0 scale
  • Must be legally authorized to work in Canada on a regular full-time basis without restrictions
     

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Proficient in Microsoft Office (Word, PowerPoint, and Excel) and knowledge of Power BI and GEP SMART
  • Awareness of upstream oil and gas operational supply chain
  • Ability to generate effective solutions based on available information and make timely decisions that are safe and ethical
  • Ability to perform independent research in an assigned topic area
  • Flexibility to fulfill different roles within Supply Chain
  • Strong knowledge of spreadsheets and analytical tools
  • Ability to collaborate across Supply Chain boundaries to achieve business goals
  • Strong interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills
  • Effective time management skills & strong organizational skills
  • Strong commitment to safety
  • Positive and enthusiastic attitude
