Summary

The Apprentice Electrician is responsible for assisting Journeyperson with maintaining the proper operation of all electrical systems on the drilling rig. This position is shop based but will involve regular travel to field locations.

 

Responsibilities

Working with a Journeyperson Electrician

Cut, thread, bend, assemble, and install electrical conduit

Maintaining, sorting, and organizing electrical parts

Participating in Precision’s safety programs

Participating in on-call and overtime as required

Various other duties as required

 

Knowledge & Skills

Silicon-controlled rectifier (SCR) experience an asset

Programmable logic controllers (PLC) and computer networking experience an asset

Experience with alternating current (AC) drive systems is an asset

Lighting, Generator Controls, and Motor Controls experience

Knowledge of local electrical codes and standards of non-hazardous and hazardous areas

Self-motivated and able to work in groups as well work independently

Open to learning and continuing education

Ability to work at heights

Must have a valid vehicle operations license abstract required

Exemplary safety record and commitment to safe work practice

Good communication skills, both written and verbal

 

Education

A High School Diploma or equivalent is required

Must be a registered electrical apprentice

 

Experience

Minimum 1 year of related electrical work experience

Energy or oilfield services industry experience is highly desired
