HYBRID ELIGIBILITY

This position works a hybrid schedule, spending time remotely and in the office in Minot, ND. The current hybrid schedule provides flexibility to collaborate in the office Tuesdays through Thursdays and work from home Mondays and Fridays. With our 9/80 feature you get time off every other Friday when you work at least 80 hours over the preceding nine days.

 

 

OVERVIEW:

 

The Security Specialist plays a critical role in safeguarding the assets, personnel, and operations of oil and gas facilities. They are responsible for implementing security protocols, risk assessments, emergency response plans (for criminal incidents), and ensuring compliance with industry regulations. The role requires a strong understanding of security practices, threat mitigation, and crisis management.

 

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  1. Risk Assessment and Threat Analysis:
  • Conduct regular risk assessments to identify vulnerabilities and threats specific to oil and gas facilities.
  • Analyze security risks related to physical infrastructure and personnel safety from both internal and external threats.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to develop mitigation strategies.
  1. Physical Security Measures:
  • Enhance and maintain physical security measures, including access control, perimeter security, and surveillance systems.
  • Monitor security systems and respond to incidents promptly.
  • Liaise with security vendors and local law enforcement partners.
  • Benchmark with local industry counterparts.
  1. Security Compliance and Regulations:
  • Stay informed about industry-specific security regulations, standards, and best practices.
  • Ensure compliance with relevant laws, including energy, transportation, and critical infrastructure.
  • Prepare reports and documentation for audits.
  1. Personnel Training and Awareness:
  • Train employees on security protocols and incident reporting.
  • Foster a security-conscious culture within the organization.
  • Conduct security awareness campaigns to include workplace violence prevention.
  1. Investigations and Reporting:
  • Investigate security incidents to include breaches, thefts, vandalism and sabotage, and physical altercations and verbal threats.
  • Document findings, recommend corrective actions, and report incidents to management.
  • Collaborate with legal and law enforcement agencies as needed.
  • Maintain confidentiality for reporting details of security related investigations.
  1. Vendor and Contractor Management:
  • Evaluate security practices of third-party vendors and contractors.
  • Ensure compliance with security requirements in contracts.
  • Monitor vendor performance and address security gaps.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Security Management, Criminal Justice, or related field. In lieu of a Bachelor’s degree, applicants must demonstrate five or more years relevant work experience in corporate security, law enforcement, and/or US military.
  • Prior experience with conducting investigations, witness interview, and gathering and preserving evidence.
  • Knowledge of oil and gas operations, including upstream, midstream, and downstream processes.
  • Familiarity with security technologies (CCTV, access control, intrusion detection, panic alarms).
  • Strong communication skills to submit written reports or conduct presentations on security operations or investigations to company leadership.
  • Demonstrated problem-solving skills.
  • Candidate must reside in proximity to Hess Corporation facilities in ND (Minot or Tioga).
  • Candidate must pass a vigorous background check and drug panel screening to demonstrate that they are worthy or trust and confidence.
