Job Summary
Alaska Overview
ConocoPhillips Alaska, Inc. is Alaska’s largest crude oil producer and largest owner of exploration leases, with approximately 1 million net undeveloped acres at year-end 2023. The company produced an average of 195 thousand barrels of oil equivalent per day (MBOED) in 2023. ConocoPhillips Alaska holds major ownership interests in two of North America’s largest legacy equivalent per day conventional oil fields, both located on Alaska’s North Slope: Kuparuk, which the company operates, and Prudhoe Bay. Additionally, ConocoPhillips Alaska owns and operates several fields on the Western North Slope. The company also has an ownership interest in the Trans-Alaska Pipeline System and owns and operates the Polar Tankers fleet.
Alpine Overview
The Alpine Field, located approximately 34 miles west of the Kuparuk Field, is one of the largest conventional onshore oil fields developed in North America in the past 25 years. Alpine is a model for future oil developments, as directional drilling and other innovations minimize its environmental footprint. Field installations include one central production facility that separates oil, natural gas, and water.
Description
Conoco Phillips Alaska is recruiting for Camp Utility Operator positions at our Alpine field located on the North Slope of Alaska. This position will operate potable water and wastewater treatment systems, incinerators and a grey water effluent water injection system for the Alpine Main Camp. Processing systems and equipment consist of a Class III Reverse Osmosis Potable Water Treatment with Micro prefiltration, Class II SBR Waste Water Treatment System, Batch Solid Waste Incinerators with 3.5 ton load ratings, and a Grey Water Injection System for effluent disposal.
Alpine Camp Operations are seeking motivated individuals that possess leadership skills and function well in a team environment. The positions will be remotely based working a 14 day on/14 day off rotation schedule at a self-contained camp.
Job Description
Your responsibilities may include:
- Operating potable water, waste water treatment, and grey water injection systems in a safe, economic, and environmentally sound manner
- Loading/Unloading and operating batch waste incinerators in a safe, economic, and environmentally sound manner
- Managing fieldwide waste segregation and dumpster inventory; coordinating waste delivery to its final location(s)
- Perform collection and shipping of required sampling and ensuring all reporting is done in a timely manner
- Troubleshooting technical problems and safety issues
- Understanding and applying safety and environmental standards and actively insuring compliance in area of responsibility
- Participation in all field safety processes to achieve a zero-incident operating culture
- Abide by all local, state, and federal regulations
Basic/Required:
- Must be legally authorized to work in the United States on a full-time basis for anyone other than current employer
- Current/valid driver’s license
- Level 1 Water Treatment Certificate by the State of Alaska
- Intermediate level of knowledge of incinerator operations
- Willing and able (with or without reasonable accommodations) to obtain a Level 3 in Water Treatment within two years of being hired
- Willing or able (with or without reasonable accommodation) to work a 14-days on/14-days off shift schedule in a remote arctic environment, both inside and outside in harsh weather conditions
- Willing or able (with or without reasonable accommodation) to safely perform physical labor including climbing ladders/stairs, operating valves and equipment, walking, standing, stooping, sitting, and carrying material periodically throughout a 12-hour shift
Preferred:
- Associate degree or higher in process technology or other relevant technical discipline or foreign equivalent
- Level 3 Water Treatment Certificate by the State of Alaska or higher
- Level 2 Wastewater Treatment Certificate by the State of Alaska or higher
- 3 or more years of North Slope work experience
- Intermediate level of experience working with Distributed Control Systems (DCS) and/or Supervisory Control and Data Acquisition (SCADA)
- Intermediate level of experience with reading and comprehending Piping and Instrument Diagrams (P&IDs)
- Basic level computer skills, word processing, spreadsheets and email
- Takes ownership of actions and follows through on dedications by holding others accountable and standing up for what’s right
- Builds effective solutions based on available information and makes timely decisions that are safe and ethical
- Listens actively and invites new ideas for exchanged opinions, then influences and acts to drive positive performance and achieve results
