About the Role
The primary objective of the Commissioning Technician is to lead and drive excellence in Development Execution’s (DevEx) commissioning and start-up activities. This includes ensuring the integration of new skid installations, facilities, and associated infrastructure across Eastern Queensland, Cooper Basin, Northern Territory & Narrabri.
The Commissioning Technician role demands a focus on safety, quality, and efficiency while collaborating with diverse teams and stakeholders to deliver low-cost operational outcomes.
This is a 2:2 FIFO role with Brisbane as the point of hire.
Key accountabilities include:
- Ensure Company and contractor personnel comply with the Company Management System (SMS) and contractor safe work procedures through critical control verifications, interactions, and participation in investigations, audits, and toolbox meetings.
- Recognise driving as a high-risk activity and ensure driving is always done to conditions (measured by IVMS index).
- Promptly report or escalate all safety, environmental, cultural heritage, and land access matters, incidents, or near misses in accordance with DevEx’s escalation procedure.
- Develop and maintain healthy relationships with the team, contractors, and other Company stakeholders (e.g. Production Operations).
- Proactively minimise the risk of construction or well online schedule delays.
- Coordinate or participate in the Ready For Start Up (RFSU) process as required.
- Submit or coordinate Ready For Operation (RFO) / Operations Acceptance (OA) of newly commissioned assets.
- Challenge and continuously improve standard practices and work methods.
- Upload Commissioning Dossier to the Commissioning SharePoint in accordance with DevEx’s CSU Plan.
About You
You bring solid experience in the oil & gas or mining industry and the technical expertise required to meet Santos standards. You excel in dynamic environments, work well in teams, and are focused on delivering high-quality results. With a strong safety-first mindset and a drive for continuous improvement, you’re ready to contribute to successful commissioning and start-up activities.
For this role, your Certificate III in Engineering (Mechanical Trade) as well as Certificate III in Process Plant Operations will be highly regarded to ensure the highest level of safety, compliance, and technical excellence in commissioning and start-up activities.
