Our client is seeking a Community Liaison Officer to work in the NYC office on a hybrid environment for a one year assignment, initially (with possible extensions).

The New Jersey Community Liaison will support the company’s growing public engagement efforts in New Jersey, which includes stakeholder management, community outreach, and team coordination. The Community Liaison will be a key member of the Community Engagement team as we build a local coalition among a diverse set of audiences and public entities relevant to establishing successful offshore wind projects across.

Responsibilities:

  • Collaborate as a member of the Attentive Energy Community Engagement and wider Permitting & Development team to design and implement a local coalition building strategy that will advance knowledge sharing, accountability and value alignment, and inclusive decision making related to the project with stakeholders
  • Create resources and collaborate with the Attentive Energy Community Engagement team to aid in the dissemination of information about the project and generate project understanding and support among environmental justice groups, community development organizations and other stakeholders across New Jersey
  • Develop and sustain relationships with community-based organizations and local residents to assist in deploying Attentive Energy’s community benefits portfolio
  • Coordinate input from stakeholders related to Attentive Energy’s offshore wind project development and support the management of communication systems to ensure concerns are conveyed to the project teams and addressed, documented, and tracked within internal systems
  • Support the development and execution of strategic outreach, advocacy, and engagement plans
  • Support ongoing market research projects, stakeholder mapping, and engagement audits
  • Build upon the existing stakeholder, political, and community database to track engagement efforts in New Jersey.
  • Coordinate, as needed, with different teams within Attentive Energy to increase awareness of stakeholder concerns and fulfill potential permitting requirements

Qualifications:

  • Undergraduate or graduate degree in Political Science, Public Policy, Public Affairs, Marketing, Communications or related field
  • 4+ years of experience in government relations, clean energy development/advocacy; community organizing or relevant state/federal public entities is preferred but not required
  • Experience developing or executing outreach strategies for stakeholder organizations or advocacy campaigns
  • Have an existing network within key regions of New Jersey to support project activities and relationships, and the proven ability to create relationships with new networks of stakeholders
  • Ability to analyze local issues and develop relevant briefings and outreach materials
  • Knowledge and experience with clean energy projects, policy or offshore wind preferred.
