Bakken Overview

The Bakken trend is a sequence of liquids-rich sand and shale layers in the Williston Basin, which stretches across western North Dakota and into Canada. The company’s position in the Bakken development area is comprised of approximately 560,000 net acres, which include 382,000 net mineral acres and 178,000 net leasehold acres. The company focuses on unconventional tight-oil play development and production in the most prolific portion of the basin.

During 2022, net production averaged 95 MBOED. There were 43 operated wells brought online during 2022, bringing the total to more than 800 operated wells online at year-end.

Description

If you are selected as the Completions Supervisor, your primary objective is to oversee and directly supervise the safe and efficient implementation of completion activities for newly drilled wells associated with the company’s active work program in the Gulf Coast/Rockies (GCR) unconventional resource plays.

Responsibilities may include:

  • Providing onsite management of field operations including fracturing, wire line, coiled tubing, snubbing and work over operations for horizontal wells ensuring that wells are completed in an efficient, technically competent, safe, cost effective and environmentally responsible manner
  • Implementing ConocoPhillips Company health, safety and environmental policy through dedicated supervision and mentoring of contract personnel
  • Managing projects and timing to achieve asset goals, including planning and logistics for assigned completion activities from drilling rig release through hand-off to production operations
  • Working with Superintendents and Engineers to optimize safe and low cost completion procedures for well operations
  • Identifying, evaluating, and selecting qualified vendors
  • Having direct input and responsibility for cost control and ensuring operations stay within budget

Basic/Required:

  • Must be legally authorized to work in the United States on a full-time basis for anyone other than current employer
  • Current/Valid driver’s license
  • Current/valid Well Control certificate or have the ability to obtain a Well Control certificate upon hire
  • 5+ years of experience in the upstream petroleum industry
  • Willing and able (with or without reasonable accommodation) to travel to remote field locations and work under harsh weather conditions
  • Willing and able (with or without reasonable accommodation)to work a rotational work schedule
  • Willing and able (with or without reasonable accommodation) to travel 50% of the time on a yearly basis

Preferred:

  • 10+ years of completions experience
  • Safety and regulatory training consistent with company standards
  • Dedication to protecting the health and safety of everyone involved in ConocoPhillips Company activities
  • Familiarity with SAP based accounting system
  • Strong leadership and communication skills complimented with openness to new ideas, leading by example, and the ability to take direction
  • Computer proficiency in word processing, spreadsheet, and engineering applications software
  • Familiarity with a network of rig contractors and related service providers
  • Experience using WellView daily reporting system
  • Experience working in a multinational, multi-cultural environment
  • Experienced in simultaneous operations
  • Experience in horizontal multi-stage high rate stimulations using plug and perf and/or sleeve techniques
  • Experience working with rig assist and standalone snubbing units
  • Experience working with wireline and pressure control equipment for logging, setting packers, perforating etc.
  • Well-developed planning and organizing skills
  • Sound business discernment and a creative problem solver
  • Self-starter requiring little to no direct mentorship
  • Coil tubing intervention experience in high pressure wells
  • Takes ownership of actions and follows through on commitments by holding others accountable and standing up for what’s right
  • Delivers results through realistic planning to accomplish goals
  • Builds effective solutions based on available information and makes timely decisions that are safe and ethical
  • Listens actively and invites new ideas for exchanged opinions, then influences and acts to drive positive performance and achieve results
