Job Summary

The ConocoPhillips Norsea Terminal, located in Teesside at the mouth of the river Tees, is a crude oil reception, processing, storage, and trans-shipment installation. The terminal also fractionates natural gas liquids into ethane, propane, and butane. 

The terminal’s success is built on its high performing workforce and can provide opportunities throughout your career to progress and continually develop. With ongoing production from Ekofisk and Eldfisk, other redeveloped fields and new exploration projects in the works, the future looks bright as we prepare for a lifetime to 2050.

Working within the Electrical, Instrument & Control Engineering Team and reporting to the Control Systems Team Lead, the candidate will provide technical expertise for maintenance, development, configuration & system administration of plant control systems including ICS, ESD & Fiscal Measurement Systems.

The ideal candidate will be Degree educated in Control, Instrument or Electrical Engineering (ideally chartered or working towards chartership) and have demonstrable experience maintaining Industrial Control Systems within the oil and gas, chemical or other regulated industry. Knowledge of industrial cybersecurity regulations is necessary

Job Description

Control System Maintenance

  • Maintains knowledge of industrial cybersecurity best practices and regulations and ensures ICS systems remain compliant with company standards
  • Maintains and repairs Fiscal metering systems, ICS system- including Batch and SIS also communication systems and Data links
  • Participates in a 24 hour emergency call out rota for control systems
  • Provides design, installation and commissioning skills for ICS, Fiscal Metering and for minor control/instrument projects
  • Maintains ICS configuration, ICS Hardware & Software, ICS backup and security
  • Assists with third party audits as necessary
  • Prepares cost estimates, project work scopes, enquiry documentation and material requisitions
  • Carries out technical bid analyses and work scope valuations
  • Maintains Control Systems in accordance with relevant procedures and assists with annual audits
  • Ensure all agreed MoC modifications/changes comply with site procedures and working instructions and have the required as built documentation and PM’s in place
  • System fault finding & safe implementation of acceptable solutions
  • Utilise SAP for Maintenance, purchasing & stores activities
  • Supervise and organise third party contractors for site work activities

Skills, Experience & Competencies

  • Degree in Control, Instrument or Electrical Engineering
  • Control Systems and DCS experience in the oil & gas industry or other regulated industry
  • Knowledge of Maintaining ICS system cybersecurity in accordance with industry best practice
  • Knowledge of engineering principles and proven ability to apply them to real-world
  • Knowledge of Fiscal measurement systems
  • Knowledge of Functional safety management and SIL
  • Sound understanding of the complete project lifecycle, including problem definition, studies, conceptual and detailed design, procurement, construction, commissioning, operation, maintenance, inspection, assessment and repair
  • Hold a Full UK driving licence and to drive company vehicles where appropriate
  • Demonstrate effective interpersonal skills
  • Ability to use Microsoft packages and SAP
  • Good reporting, communication and workload management
