Delaware Basin Overview

Spanning West Texas through Southeast New Mexico, ConocoPhillips holds approximately 709,000 total net acres in the Delaware Basin, which includes approximately 699,000 unconventional net acres. ConocoPhillips began exploring and appraising the basin’s stacked pay potential in 2012 and has gained extensive technical expertise to optimize development. Entering 2023, the company now operates over 2,800 wells throughout the Basin.

In 2022, the company operated an average of 10 drilling rigs, including one electric rig, and 153 new operated wells were brought online. Net production in 2022 averaged 321 MBOED.

Description

If you are selected as the Delaware Operations Center (DOC) Supervisor, you will direct, coordinate, and supervise the front line of remote operations support and serve as the primary DOC liaison for other Delaware Basin Ops Services and support teams. Coaching and directing DOC activities through field surveillance and logistics is a key accountability of the role. Must be an advocate for DOC integration with field-based functions to support Delaware Operations in meeting sales, safety & production goals. Supervisor is responsible for their team’s adherence to ConocoPhillips and regulatory agency policies, procedures, and regulations.

Responsibilities may include:

  • Training and implementing best practices in directing field surveillance activities is a key accountability of the role
  • Support efficient and compliant execution of fieldwide flare alarm reporting and compliance efforts
  • Organize effective DOC utilization of Scada, Connected Production and other field surveillance tools
  • Ensure production (oil and water) shipments are efficiently managed to avoid production interruptions and optimize costs
  • Manage alarm notifications for Delaware Basin to ensure proper response to operational and process safety alarms
  • Support Alarm Management by identifying bad actor alarms and resolving them with Facilities Engineering, Automation, SCADA, and Operations
  • Lead and supervise a diverse team, ensuring adherence to safety protocols, operational procedures, and performance standards
  • Implement effective data analytics and data management processes in support of operations, state and federal regulatory requirements
  • Develop and maintain KPIs for alarm management, response tracking and logistics execution
  • Create, update and maintain workflows to promote production continuity, and lower costs
  • Develop open communication and collaboration with cross-functional teams, including operations, SCADA, Connected Production, Maintenance, Automation, and marketing, to coordinate activities, resolve issues, and drive continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Ensure a respectful workplace with focus on inclusion and encouraging diversity
  • Support and comply with expectations from COP HSE Management System
  • Provide guidance, training, and support to enhance team performance and develop a culture of continuous improvement.
  • Partner with peer supervisors to provide strategic direction, set and achieve goals, and develop personnel.
  • Strive for a “one team” culture with other asset ops support teams
  • Collaborate with facility and production teams to achieve established objectives and to minimize interruptions to operations
  • Partner with other ConocoPhillips operations centers to knowledge share and leverage technologies/processes used by other assets
  • Occasional travel to Houston or other assets if required to collaborate with SME’s
  • Engineering, IT, Commercial, Regulatory-DOT

Basic/Required:

  • Must be legally authorized to work in the United States on a full-time basis for anyone other than current employer
  • Current/Valid Driver’s License
  • 5+ years of experience in oil and gas engineering or operations
  • Intermediate proficiency with Microsoft O365 applications: Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint, SharePoint, Teams and Word
  • Willing and able (with or without reasonable accommodations) to travel up to 10% of the time on a yearly basis

  • Previous Operating Center experience
  • Strong social skills

  • Strong organizational and time management skills
  • Extensive working knowledge of field operations, process safety, and logistics
  • Demonstrated leadership in promoting safe work practices
  • Excellent communication and collaborative skills in working with multiple disciplines

  • Working knowledge of production automation software programs such as Cygnet, XSPOC, etc

  • Builds effective solutions based on available information and makes timely decisions that are safe and ethical
