Job Summary
Teesside Operations
The ConocoPhillips Norsea Terminal, located in Teesside at the mouth of the river Tees, is a crude oil reception, processing, storage, and trans-shipment installation. The terminal also fractionates natural gas liquids into ethane, propane, and butane.
The Terminal’s success is built on its high performing workforce and can provide opportunities throughout your career to progress and continually develop. With ongoing production from Ekofisk and Eldfisk, other redeveloped fields and new exploration projects in the works, the future looks bright as we prepare for a lifetime to 2050.
Reporting to the Engineering and Projects Manager, the candidate will be responsible for directing and coordinating a team of engineers and technical professionals that support the execution of the work programme relating to Electrical, Instrument & Control Systems maintenance, including design and modifications.
The ideal candidate will be a degree qualified engineer, preferably a Chartered Engineer, who has held leadership positions within Engineering and Projects functions within the oil, gas, chemical processing or other regulated industry.
Job Description
- Accountable for the management of Electrical, Instrument & Control Preventative Maintenance strategy to ensure compliance to regulation and company policy
- Manage associated integrated service contracts for relevant engineering and maintenance functions
- Understand and use functional/regional expertise to contribute to the success of the business
- Provide scope / guidance / technical support / input to projects which involve Electrical, Instrumentation and control activities
- Review and approve any deviations to EC&I discipline standards and practices
- Accountable for EC&I technical responses to discipline related Technical Queries (TQs)
- Technical review and approval of relevant discipline MOCs
- Support the effectiveness and motivation of Electrical Instrument & control team members through monitoring the progress of challenging objectives
- Accountable for reviewing and approving relevant Department and plant procedures
- Support development and adherence of control system security standards in accordance with company policy
- Sponsor the planning and execution of shutdowns and major outages/turnaround
- Responsible to monitor the contract value, ensuring that the work scope is effectively delivered, and the scope is not expanded or changed unless the appropriate process is followed and approved
- Financial / Contract and Personnel Management
- Generates ideas for cost saving/efficiencies
- Coach, support and mentor team members/peers
- Significant input to projects completions processes
Competency Requirements
- Degree in Relevant Engineering Discipline
- Chartered Engineer (or working towards Chartership within 2 years)
- Supervisor experience
- Contract Management Experience
- Extensive Operation & Maintenance experience in the oil & gas industry or other regulated industry
- Sound knowledge of electrical, instrument & control engineering principles and proven ability to apply them to real-world problems
- Hold a Full UK driving licence and to drive company vehicles where appropriate
- Demonstrate effective interpersonal, leadership skills and supervisory competence
- Knowledge of the management and maintenance of Safety Integrity Level (SIL) control
- Ability to use Microsoft packages and SAP
- Good reporting, communication and workload management
