Position Description:
This position is responsible for directing the operation and maintenance of the electrical utilities plant – electrical power generation and distribution to load points (end devices). The role is also responsible for directing the operations and maintenance of electric motors and related devices/infrastructures in the facility.

Major Areas of Responsibility:

  • Schedule and direct the work of electrical technicians by coordinating work assignments.
  • Evaluate and verify team performance through the review of completed work assignments and work techniques.
  • Identify development and training needs for the team.
  • Check daily logs to determine proper operation of equipment.
  • Maintain records, prepare, daily and monthly reports on power plant operations, power usage and costs.
  • Manage maintenance activities, inspect and validate completed work on generators, transformers, switch gears and other components, making sure scheduled preventive maintenance are executed timely and technical completion in SAP are done on all work orders.
  • Configure as required the Woodward Easygen 3000XT module, applying the right settings, and load sharing management of the power generators.
  • Maintain electrical systems, circuits, and components for power generation, distribution, and utilization.
  • Optimize electrical systems for efficiency, performance, and cost-effectiveness.
  • Plan and oversee electrical projects, including timelines, budgets, and resources.
  • Plan and execute upgrades to existing systems to improve performance or extend lifespan.
  • Conduct tests such as insulation resistance tests, etc. on electrical systems and equipment to ensure functionality and safety.
  • Perform risk assessments and implement safety measures to mitigate hazards.
  • Create technical specifications and documentation for electrical projects.
  • Develop innovative solutions to complex electrical engineering problems.
  • Stay updated on the latest technologies, trends, and advancements in electrical engineering.
  • Conduct feasibility studies for new technologies or systems.
  • Coordinate with other engineers and stakeholders to ensure success.
  • Ensure projects comply with industry standards, codes, and regulations.
  • Maintain accurate records and documentation for compliance and auditing purposes.
  • Prepare and present reports, proposals, and technical documentation to stakeholders.
  • Identify, study, propose, and implement areas for improvement, management of change (MOC) in the field of power generation, distribution and measurement devices to enhance operation and improve total equipment reliability.
  • Participate in Site Modification Requests (SMR) and projects realized by Engineering, Construction & Projects department to ensure changes are in conformity with company general standards and specific requirements of each plant.
  • Carry out all other assignments as may be directed by the reporting line manager.

Minimum Requirements:

BSc/B.Eng. Engineering
Relevant experience in a similar role.

Additional Desirable Qualifications:

MNSE, COREN

  • Knowledge of the operations and maintenance of electric generating equipment and related electro-mechanical equipment in the entire facility.
  • Knowledge of relevant mechanical and electrical systems on a power plant.
