Brussels Headquarters
The office building in Brussels (Machelen) houses ExxonMobil’s regional headquarters for Europe, Africa and the Middle East (EMEA) and the European Technology Centre for research and development.
What role will you play in our team
You will be joining the Polyethylene Customer and Application Development (CAD) team, dedicated to providing Technology solutions to support ExxonMobil’s Polyethylene business objectives.
As a member of the CAD team, you will lead application development and support projects for new product innovations, driving technological advancements that add value to our corporation and address evolving societal needs. Your efforts will contribute to creating sustainable solutions that enhance quality of life.
You will be at the front end of the development of advanced solutions for our customers that convert our polymers into extruded finished goods. Working closely with Market Developers, Product Developers, Sales, Lab Operations, and Pilot Plant Operations.
Moreover, the CAD team is responsible for training both customers and colleagues, collaborating with our global network of technology centers in the US, China, and India.

The job requires curiosity and technology interest and interpersonal skills facilitating work in internal local and global networks and as a market facing resource.
What you will do
- Lead projects consisting of new or improved applications for our existing or new polymers
- Translate strategic business drivers into technology opportunities that meet local and global market needs
- Integrate sustainability requirements in the design of future solutions
- Provide technical support to our customers
- Develop and maintain trustful relationships with external partners (research centers, universities, value chain technology providers)
- Monitor scientific advancements internal and external literature (including patents) to assess new opportunities or threat
- Participate in Technology Network meetings and follow-up as member
About you
- Either PhD in Chemical, Material, Polymer Engineer or Science or MSc in Chemical, Material, Polymer Engineer or Science with minimum 3 years of experience in related industry or preferably with typical focus areas on polymer processing, rheology, packaging.
- Pragmatic hands-on project management skills
- Strong analytical, communication and collaboration skills
- Good understanding of physical and chemical analytical techniques
- Willingness to travel
- Ability to work in multidisciplinary & Multicultural teams
- Fluent in English. Proficiency in additional languages is highly desirable but not necessary
- A strong curiosity and interest in technology.
