Subsea 7 are looking for an Emulation Engineer to work within Fleet & Equipment on a full-time, staff basis in our Westhill, Aberdeen office.

This is an excellent opportunity to join the Fleet Transformation team progressing the emulation of numerous systems operating on our modern fleet of Offshore Support Vessels, spanning across many regions and sectors within the business.

For the right candidate you will be able to drive your own personal development and further your skills and knowledge within the following areas through:

  • Supporting Renewables and O&G project campaigns, through the S7 diverse fleet.
  • Control System Repair, Upgrades & Maintenance Strategies.
  • Innovation and Emerging Technologies specific to the S7 Fleets.
  • Sustainability and our energy transition goals.

 

Reporting to the Fleet Transformation Manager, the Emulation Engineer support the deployment of virtualisation and emulation technologies to optimise, verify & test our offshore systems to enable predictable performance.

What will you be doing?

  • Participates in the definition and application of emulation acceptance testing (EAT)
  • Provides progress updates to the management pertaining to the scope of work within the Emulation Engineers remit.
  • Involved working with the vessel & operations teams in defining best operational practices from the output of emulation.
  • Actively promote a positive safety attitude in relation to the design and operation of Control Systems.
  • Provide technical assistance in connection with breakdowns and maintenance as well as escalated second-level technical support to relevant vessel personnel, ensuring that management is always aware of all ongoing major issues.
  • Maintaining files and records of emulated control systems.
  • Support projects in interface between vessel systems and project systems.
  • Any other duties as directed by the Fleet Transformation Manager.
  • Ensure department ways of working are embedded and understood.
  • Occasional Support with company initiatives and collaboration with Asset Development Team.

What experience would we like you to have?

 

The successful candidate will have a relevant engineering degree and demonstrable experience in controls system engineering including good knowledge of programming PLC, SCADA, and HMI systems. Experience in using SIMIT is considered advantageous.
