About Houston
ExxonMobil’s state-of-the-art campus north of Houston serves as home to its Upstream, Product Solutions and Low Carbon Solutions businesses and their associated service groups. The facility opened in 2014 and accommodates more than 10,000 employees and visitors.
By bringing many global functional groups together, the campus provides employees with the tools and capabilities needed today, and in the future, to achieve business objectives and accelerate the discovery of new resources, technologies and products. It was designed to foster improved collaboration, creativity and innovation and enhance the company’s ability to attract, develop and retain the top talent in the industry.
The campus is located in Spring, Texas, on 385 wooded acres immediately to the west of Interstate Highway 45 (I-45), at the intersection of I-45 and the Hardy Toll Road, approximately 25 miles from the cultural vibrancy of downtown Houston.
The campus was constructed to the highest standards of energy efficiency and environmental stewardship. Its design incorporates extensive research into best practices in building and workplace design through extensive benchmarking of the world’s top academic, research, and corporate facilities.

What role you will play in our team
Analyze novel/emerging energy pathways through life cycle assessment (LCA), energy contribution and impact assessment, and techno-economic analysis (TEA) to provide strategic guidance and/or inform technology development goals
Work collaboratively across global, cross-disciplinary and commercial teams, and with third parties (academia, industry) to drive informed analysis of technologies and policies required for system-level decarbonization
Serve as a key LCA/TEA/energy systems expert in interdisciplinary teams and identify optimal technology pathways through rigorous Carbon Intensity (CI) and/or cost-of-abatement analysis
Engage with external technical community to develop and utilize robust methodologies that drive clarity in system-level decarbonization analyses
What you will do
Develop and utilize technical expertise in one (or more) of Life Cycle Assessment (LCA), Techno-Economic Analysis (TEA), Cost of Abatement or Carbon Intensity (CI) calculations, analysis of Carbon Credit frameworks.
Leverage background in estimating energy flows, emissions related to energy production, products manufacturing and use
Utilize preferred adjacent skills (from): process analysis/modeling, optimization modeling, energy systems analysis, policy analysis
Build ability to stretch from process- or product-specific LCA/TEA to broader energy systems modeling, with goal to link methodologies and analysis to emerging energy technology evaluation and selection
Utilize fundamental principles and data to effectively drive internal and external dialogue and engagement on decarbonization pathways and policy
Exhibit ability to work in multidisciplinary teams and integrate diverse views/concepts
Enhance ability to function as key technical contact and work collaboratively in research setting, while also interacting with external partners in industry and academia to progress technology development objectives
About you
We are looking for someone who has a strong scientific background with the following qualifications:
Skills and Qualifications
Advanced degree (Ph.D.) in Chemical Engineering/ Industrial Engineering / Environmental Science and Engineering / Chemistry or related discipline(s) is strongly preferred
Knowledge in estimating emissions associated with energy flows, Life Cycle and Techno-economic Analysis, state-of-the-art models and approaches in one or more areas related to energy systems analysis
Ability to identify and engage leading external experts on energy modeling
Experience translating complex scientific information into digestible insights for non-experts
Demonstrated ability to handle multiple priorities and stakeholders
Willingness to travel
Preferred Qualifications
Post-doctoral or related experience
Outstanding analytical and communication skills
