JOB DESCRIPTION

Job Purpose

Provide technical expertise, supervise and perform routine maintenance, installation, repair and adjustment on the cathodic protection system to ensure availability and safe operations.

Job Specific Accountabilities

Maintenance Execution and Inspection
•    Analyse and perform troubleshooting of cathodic protection related problems for CP system to ensure continuous availability.
•    Carryout inspections and participate in corrosion management, risk evaluations, structural analysis and failure analysis of cathodic protection system to facilitate safe operations.
•    Supervise external and internal painting works and supervise pin brazing and stud welding activities to ensure quality.
CP Systems Monitoring and Surveys
•    Monitor overall performance of cathodic protection systems to meet established schedules and instructions and highlight deficiency in the existing system.
•    Supervise, record and plot the potential reading and take action to bring up potentials wherever they are below protective levels and reports major deviations for corrective action.
•    Monitor and observe the devising methods and implementation to upgrade protective potentials by providing resistive bond, insulating joints, hot spot protection and adjusting current out puts. 
•    Participate in the assessment of equipment to identify corrosion and coating damages, 
•    Carry out soil resistively surveys and holiday detection surveys to detect cracks or defects in the protective coating.
•    Monitor and report damage from third party and report potential damage to Supervisor for remedial action.
Technical Expertise and Design / new installations
•    Provide technical support for development, implementation and commissioning of new projects in the cathodic protection installation to optimize costs and ensure compliance with applicable standards and best practices.
•    Participate in defining the technical requirements, technical bid evaluation and inspection of equipment/ systems on receipt to ensure specifications and required quality.
Records and Procedures
•    Update Inspection Management System records and review/ update procedures related to CP system to ensure efficiency and timely completion of assignments.

Minimum Qualification

Bachelor Degree in Chemical Engineering or equivalent Professional Qualification

Minimum Experience, Knowledge & Skills

6 years of experience in carrying out cathodic protection monitoring, upgrading and inspection activities within a large industrial organization, preferably in the Oil and Gas industry.
