JOB DESCRIPTION

JOB PURPOSE:

Oversees and optimizes drilling operations to ensure maximum efficiency and safety. Analyzes drilling performance data, identifying areas for improvement, and implementing solutions to enhance drilling efficiency and reduce costs.

 

KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES:

Job Specific Accountabilities

  • Analyze drilling performance data to identify trends, patterns, and areas for improvement in drilling operations.
  • Develop and implement strategies to optimize drilling performance, including enhancing drilling processes, equipment utilization, and operational practices.
  • Provide technical support to drilling teams, including troubleshooting drilling issues, recommending solutions, and ensuring adherence to best practices.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including drilling engineers, geoscientists, and operations personnel, to implement performance improvement initiatives and achieve operational objectives.
  • Provide training and guidance to drilling personnel on performance optimization techniques, tools, and best practices.
  • Identify potential risks and hazards associated with drilling operations and develop mitigation strategies to minimize risk exposure and ensure safe and efficient operations.
  • Monitor drilling-related expenses and identify opportunities to reduce costs without compromising safety or operational integrity.
  • Assess wellbore integrity issues and collaborate with engineering teams to develop solutions to prevent or mitigate wellbore instability, formation damage, and other integrity concerns.
  • Evaluate and recommend improvements to performance monitoring systems, including real-time drilling data acquisition and visualization tools, to enhance decision-making and operational efficiency.
  • Implement quality assurance processes and standards to ensure the reliability and accuracy of drilling performance data and reports.
  • Capture and disseminate lessons learned, best practices, and technical knowledge gained from drilling operations to facilitate continuous learning and improvement across the organization.
  • Stay abreast of industry trends, advancements in drilling technology, and emerging best practices, and evaluate their potential applicability to improve drilling performance and efficiency.

QUALIFICATIONS, EXPERIENCE, KNOWLEDGE & SKILLS:

  • Minimum Qualification

  • BSc in an engineering discipline, or equivalent.
  • Minimum Experience & Knowledge & Skills

  • 5 years’ field experience, in drilling operations
  • Fluency in spoken and written English.
  • Good computer knowledge.
