About the Job

 

Performs a variety of process engineering duties in the plant. Includes monitoring performance of plants and facilities, preparing daily performance summary and recommending corrective actions to deal with abnormalities. Provides functional assistance to various plant personnel in test-checking alternatives, diagnosing process related problems, and preparing technical specifications of operating chemicals and process consumables.

 

Key Accountabilities

 

Preparing Daily Performance Summaries & Unit Guidelines

  • Prepares daily performance summaries to monitor plant performance. Includes studying laboratory test reports, daily operating activities reports, reviewing log sheets etc. and compiling information for Supervisor’s review.
  • Highlights abnormalities and advises supervisor on corrective actions for discussions.
  • Gives recommendation(s) to Operations in terms of meeting the optimization plan for the month.

 

Evaluating Units Efficiencies

  • Collects monthly plant production and operating data, evaluates unit efficiencies by relating chemical and energy consumption to plant throughput. Identifies possible trends, prepares reports with comments and submits to supervisor for review.

 

Monitoring Equipment / Systems Performance

  • Monitors equipment and systems performance, identifies potential problems and submits recommendations for appropriate actions.
  • Proposing modifications to existing systems and follow up to ensure proper execution.
  • Issues the quarterly plant health report

 

Providing Technical Assistance

  • Provides functional assistance and analyses the results of special tests from operational units, in order to provide further information for analysis and / or to test check effectiveness of alterations.
  • Provides technical services and assistance to other sections such as instrumentation, maintenance, inspection and materials as required.
  • Guide and assist in the execution and evaluation of plant Test Runs and special process improvement studies.
  • Evaluate existing process technologies to improve performance and arrange feasibility studies aimed at adopting new technologies (new process monitoring tools, simulation models, etc.).

 

Minimum Requirements

 

  • B.Sc. in Chemical Engineering or equivalent. Minimum Experience & Knowledge:
  • At least 6 years’ experience in refinery / gas processing plant operations of which 4 years should have been at senior engineer level. (For GUP, past experience in power and desalination industry is required) Skills:
  • High level of relevant technical knowledge and application.
  • Management and planning skills.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Data analysis and report writing skills.
  • Full knowledge of DCS.
  • Must have good computer skills – MS Office, MAXIMO
