Extraction and Slurry Line Inspector

A leading Owner/Operator is currently looking to hire an Extraction and Slurry Line Inspector.
In this role, you will be responsible for overseeing the quality and integrity of the extraction process and slurry line piping systems. Your expertise will play a vital role in maintaining the efficiency and safety of our operations.
TASKS AND RESPONSIBILITIES
• Perform external, internal and installation inspection of new and in-service tanks and piping.
• Review CML remaining thickness data and develop work scopes for extraction and slurry line slowdowns and outages.
• Work scope generation for tanks and vessels for slowdowns and outages.
• Development and sustainment of work aids for various equipment inspections
• Review and action summaries of inspection and NDE findings, provide recommendations and develop repair plans for the associated equipment
• Provide QA oversite for equipment repairs and alterations. Perform inspection and verifications in accordance with the requirements of inspection test plans.
• Develop inspection plans and provide direction for 3rd party inspectors for the coordination and execution of inspections
• Review quality control work packages to associated work orders and approve and sign off the ITPs and associated documentation
• Assist in QC and NDE contractor quality assessments.
• Provide technical support to site operations, maintenance, and engineering personnel regarding inspections, NDE and damage mechanisms
• Investigate failures and participate in root cause failure analysis on and actors.
• Stay up to date on industry standards, regulations and best practices.
SKILLS AND QUALIFICATIONS
• Diploma in Welding Engineering Technology, Materials Engineering Technology or Mechanical Engineering Technology
• A minimum of 5 years of experience conducting in-service inspection of slurry lines and tanks
• Certification in API 570
• Additional certifications would be an asset – i.e. API 653, ABSA In-service inspector, CWB Level 1 or 2
• Knowledge of regulatory and industrial codes and standards such as CSA, ASME and API.
• Knowledge of materials and processing, welding, NDE and damage mechanisms
• Effective communication skills both written and verbally.
• Proficient in Microsoft office and SAP
• Strong commitment to safety and work management systems
• Excellent attention to detail and ability to identify potential issues before they become major problems
• Ability to work independently and as a team
• Valid to work in Canada and have a valid driver’s license
SHIFT AND LOCATION
• This position will be site based (Wood Buffalo region)
• Fly in/fly out (Calgary and Edmonton hubs)
• Camp based
• 14 days on/14 days off rotation
