Delaware Basin Overview
Spanning West Texas through Southeast New Mexico, ConocoPhillips holds approximately 709,000 total net acres in the Delaware Basin, which includes approximately 699,000 unconventional net acres. ConocoPhillips began exploring and appraising the basin’s stacked pay potential in 2012 and has gained extensive technical expertise to optimize development. Entering 2023, the company now operates over 2,800 wells throughout the Basin.
In 2022, the company operated an average of 10 drilling rigs, including one electric rig, and 153 new operated wells were brought online. Net production in 2022 averaged 321 MBOED.

Description
The Delaware Basin East Project Lead provides leadership and direction for construction, installation, and maintenance activities. We work together with members of the Operations and Engineering to safely execute our plans and support our zero-incident culture.
This is a Safety Sensitive position.
Responsibilities may include:
- Onsite supervising and coordinating of facility construction, pipeline construction, location and road construction, compressor installation and pipeline repair
- Being able to work independently without supervision, guiding construction contractors on daily work activities
- Directing all assigned construction, pipeline, and maintenance activities to ensure that work is performed in compliance with ConocoPhillips Safety Policies and Procedures as well as applicable environmental and regulatory requirements
- Coordinating with Engineering and Operations to achieve established objectives and to minimize interruptions to operations
- Writing applicable permits as needed, and working SIMOPS with Operations, Drilling and Completions as needed on Greenfield, Brown Field projects where applicable
- Reviewing LOTO packages for correctness, walking out process piping for LOTO accuracies
- Identifying, applying, and verifying the construction to ConocoPhillips design criteria and specifications
- Reviewing and verifying daily work tickets, invoices, billing, expenditures, and cost-control on assigned projects
- Assisting in the development of Project Execution Plans
- Participating in P&ID and other drawing reviews
- Participating in process hazard analysis and constructability reviews
- Completing all required documentation within the work packet and participating in project close outs
- Training and/or auditing contract personnel on policies and procedures
- Hold contractor accountable, stopping any unsafe acts
Basic/Required:
- Must be legally authorized to work in the United States on a full-time basis for anyone other than current employer
- Current/Valid driver’s license
- 7+ years of experience in the oil and gas industry
- 5+ years of experience in direct maintenance or construction activities.
- Intermediate proficiency with P&ID and isometrics
- Intermediate proficiency with reading and interpreting (P&IDs) piping & instrumentation diagrams (symbols, tags, and instrument lines) and one-line, wiring and instrument loop diagrams
Preferred:
- 10+ years of construction/operation experience
- 5+ years of experience in direct maintenance or construction activities
- Understanding of Well Control theories and techniques
- Understanding of field operations
- Expert proficiency with P&ID and isometrics
- Takes ownership of actions and follows through on commitments by holding others accountable and standing up for what is right
- Delivers positive results through realistic planning to accomplish goals
- Builds effective solutions based on available information and makes timely decisions that are safe and ethical
