JOB TITLE: Finance Business Partner 

Responsibilities will include:

  • Managing the integrity of the general ledger for ANZ, ensuring it is reconciled back to the subledgers and approving all necessary journals to correctly categorize results

  • Working with Group Finance to address reporting requirements and issues

  • Working collaboratively with the Group Tax Team and Tax consultants to ensure ANZ direct, indirect tax and statutory compliance are met.

  • Maintaining Tax, Compliance & Statutory returns calendar for ANZ business

  • Management of Statutory Audit, Internal Auditsand Tax audits of ANZ business

  • Update and maintain tax governance strategy and procedure manuals, provide half-yearly reporting to group finance on tax risk assessment and propose actions to mitigate the risk.

  • Strong accounting standards and tax technical knowledge

  • Assist with the group consolidation process for ANZ business.

  • Planning, coordination, and implementation of all processes, including month-end and financial reporting.

  • Accountable for ensuring the regional financial statements (Group or statutory) are prepared in accordance with Group accounting policies and IFRS.

  • Overall analytics for Australia and New Zealand Business and presenting them to management and Group Finance along with commentary 

  • Review of integrity and robustness of monthly results, forecasts, budgets and cash flow 

  • Oversee Inter-company reporting and reconciliations.

  • Constantly looking for improvements in the reporting process, identifying areas generating need for corrections, identifying root cause and addressing issues

  • Ensure compliance with the group’s financial controls assurance framework.

  • Development of reports in Oracle Fusion to ensure the integrity of numbers reported.

  • Responsible for reviewing and approving balance sheet account reconciliations

  • Technical expertise in IFRS creates accounting memos to support accounting treatments.

  • Research technical accounting changes, determine impact on the business, and coordinate training.

  • Ensure compliance and internal control levels within the region.

  • Lead and participate in finance and cross-functional adhoc assignments as required

  • Ensuring processes for the finance department are up-to-date and any gaps are addressed.

  • Reporting directly to Finance Director

  • Assisting in mentoring staff

  • Other ad hoc tasks as required.

Essential Qualifications and Skills:

  • A recognized accounting qualification (CA/CPA)
  • Solid hands-on experience in corporate accounting, tax & statutory compliance of ANZ

  • At least 5 years’ post-qualification experience in industry is required.

  • Proven track record operating with diverse team in a multinational environment
  • Prefer a professional practice background, preferably from a ‘Big 4’ background.
  • Experience of managing and mentoring staff
  • Experience with ERP systems (Oracle) and reporting systems is preferred.
  • Technical accounting skills and strong ANZ tax expertise
  • An understanding and appreciation of end-to-end processes leading to the final reporting of financial performance
  • Must be able to meet tight deadlines without fail and have problem-solving skills and a can-do approach to challenges.

  • Ability to research legislation and foreign compliance and engage with multiple partners in managing remote locations.
