About the Role

Are you a strategic thinker and a dynamic leader with solid background in the delivery of Finance Services?

Santos is seeking a Finance Manager (FM) based in Port Moresby, reporting to the Finance Services Senior Manager (FSSM) of Santos Foundation. This role is responsible for providing finance management and quality assurance within the Foundation and ensuring the delivery of timely and accurate financial data across PNG, Australia, Timor Leste and Alaska.

The FM provides daily direction and ongoing support to the Foundation Finance Accounting Services Team and will have direct oversight of weekly supplier payment runs, Santos inter-company process activities, month end close and reporting activities, program expenditure reporting and forecasting, timely lodgement of IRC returns, financial audits, annual financial statements and tax returns.

Key responsibilities of the role include:

  • Manage the daily, weekly and monthly execution of financial activities, including financial, statutory and management reporting for the Foundation, in accordance with Foundation policies and standards
  • Manage the month end close activities for all Foundation jurisdictions including journal reviews
  • Manage accounts payable/receivable functions and cashflow requirements for the Foundation ensuring payments are made on a timely manner
  • Manage the Santos inter-company process including verifying monthly payable charges, timely settlement and donation drawdown requests and manage ongoing intercompany relationships with Santos Group finance
  • Review and approve monthly balance sheet account and supplier reconciliations for all Foundation jurisdictions including clearing of aged items
  • Review and present the monthly consolidated expenditure and reforecast
  • Report on the monthly consolidated cash balances
  • Review and endorse monthly Santos Group reimbursement and intercompany requests
  • Manage all SAP system updates for all Foundation jurisdictions
  • Interpretation of accounting standards and preparation of annual reporting that complies with relevant laws in PNG, Australia, Timor Leste and Alaska (consolidated financial statements and annual tax returns for each jurisdiction)
  • Identify development and training needs for the accounting services staff so that they can adequately support the activities of the Foundation implemented in all jurisdictions

About You

We are seeking candidates with the following essential experience:

  • Strong compliance and financial control experience
  • Extensive experience in the delivery of Finance Services (general ledger/balance sheet management, accounts payable and receivable, treasury and monthly reporting and forecasting)
  • Proven experience in preparation of balance sheet reconciliations and clearing of aged items
  • Proven experience managing external and internal audits
  • Proven experience with monthly and annual IRC lodgement requirements
  • Proven experience with the preparation of annual financial statements and tax returns
  • Demonstrated experience using SAP (or other ERP system)
  • Ideally, you have tertiary qualifications in accounting, finance or business management; and CPA qualified or equivalent.
