Overview

We are seeking a geophysical researcher for Reservoir Multiphysics Focus area of Geophysics Technology Division of EXPEC Advanced Research Center (ARC).

Reservoir Multiphysics Focus Area develops advanced processing and inversion technologies applies to seismic and multiphysics data for resource exploration and reservoir monitoring/surveillance. Emphasis is placed on algorithmic and software development with applications to field data with support from machine learning.

We are looking for proficient candidates able to bring innovation and technological skills for a variety of applications targeting resource exploration and development with strong skills on data analysis and inversion as well as seismic and multiphysics disciplines

Key Responsibilities

You will be required to perform the following:

Create & Innovate by continuously generating new ideas, methods, products and solutions

Search for opportunities and solutions in geophysics data processing and inversion technology that can bring significant value to Saudi Aramco

Work with multiple Saudi Aramco departments to execute all phases of the technology development process including technical justification, contracting, project management, milestone evaluations, field trials, deployment and commercialization.

Organize collaboration & teamwork by providing appropriate support within own area of expertise

Constantly keep up-to-date on new geophysical technology by reading technical journals, attending technical meetings, or through outside professional contacts

Document and present findings internally and externally

Minimum Requirements

You have at least 5 years of combined experience in the oil industry, directly related to development, inversion, machine learning for seismic and multiphysics data.

You have experience in surface and borehole seismic acquisition for deep or shallow targets.  Some knowledge of distributed acoustic sensing (DAS) for seismic imaging and reservoir surveillance is considered beneficial. Knowledge and experience with multiphysics is considered important.

You possess skills in both downhole and surface seismic data processing and analysis and good understanding of seismic signal processing and proven ability translate these skills in improved integrated solutions incorporating novel analysis techniques. Basic knowledge of seismic inversion and interpretation is beneficial.

You have some experience with geophysical methods required for near surface characterization (seismic, GPR, electromagnetics, microgravity).

You demonstrate knowledge of the latest developments in seismic and multiphysics technology through work experience, patents, conferences, seminars, and papers in professional journals. You present results and research concepts both internally and externally.

Advanced level of computational programming skills (C/C++, Matlab, Python etc.) for stand-alone or plugin application development for parallel CPU and GPU clusters.

Knowledge of Machine Learning approaches and their applications for geophysical data analysis is desired.
