Overview

The Global Analysis department serves as the corporate think tank on global issues, including several functions such as scenario planning, short and long-term outlook, and third-party benchmarking. The department looks at factors affecting market conditions as well as provides forecasts on global product prices. The department develops scenarios and market insights to support executive management decision-making.

The global refining specialist is required to understand key interplay of crude, oil product markets. The person should be familiar with working with refinery linear programming tools, as well as deep understanding of the downstream refinery systems. In this role, the person will bee seen as the expert on refinery fundamentals and quantitative methods to provide insights and analysis throughout the department.

Key Responsibilities

Development of refining forecast throughput, product balances and prices: develop forecasts based on solid refinery background and assumptions.  

Independent analysis of global refinery systems: provide commentary and quantitative analysis on status of global refinery market. Synthesize cross-regional trends into insights.   

Guide and design improvements and models to understand refining market dynamics: challenging, validating models and improve tools to monitor downstream sector (improved margins calculations, margins)

Downstream insights on different regions; presentation and talking points on key highlights on direction of refinery system going forward.  

Assists Director and Division Heads with adhoc requests or special projects: responds to queries regarding specific economic topics with a focus on the next three years.

Represents Saudi Aramco at industry conferences and seminars. Travel is required one or two times a year.

Fosters and supports Aramco’s culture and values. Team and goal oriented. Builds trust.  

 

Minimum Requirements

Degree: Engineering background. Masters preferred.  

Work experience: In depth knowledge (12-15 years+) of downstream oil and gas industry. Experience in O&G industry, trading houses, producers, downstream players.

Demonstrated knowledge on refinery plant operations and optimization.

Languages: Fluency in English (oral and written) is a must.

Strong modeling capabilities and understanding of refined product prices, trade flow dynamics, and production balances.

Effective written and oral communication skills with management as well as presentation skills.

Liner Programming experience is a plus, and advanced knowledge on excel is a must.  

Ability to work effectively with minimum supervision and on relatively unstructured tasks.  Must be able to work on time-sensitive environment and reacts quickly with requests.

Ability to mentor and motivate junior staff members.
