ExxonMobil has operated in the U.K. for more than 135 years. We are best known today for the marketing of our Esso fuels and Mobil 1 lubricants and for our petrochemicals. We have refining and chemical operations in the UK, we operate the UK’s biggest private pipeline network and we retain a non-operated share in a number of fields in the North Sea. More recently, we are developing our involvement in lower emission projects in the UK, building on our experience in carbon capture and storage (CCS), hydrogen production and biofuels.

What you will do

 

The key deliverables for this position:

 

1. People management (Leadership & Supervision) :

 

  • Ensure that daily Terminal operations are conducted in a safe, cost effective and environmentally sound manner according to the established procedures and controls.
  • Supervision and/or control of day-to-day terminal activities and product movements.
  • Monitoring and control of personnel working on the Terminal.

 

2. SSHE:

 

  • Ensure the correct and effective application of Work Controls Procedures.
  • Support and promote the effective implementation of the Company’s Loss Prevention System.
  • Completion of Tier 1 Best Practice Checklists as required for higher risk tasks / operations.
  • Ensure that Terminal operations remain within safe operating limits.
  • Respond properly to any alarms and warnings and identify and address hazards / potential hazards.
  • Ensure that Terminal remains secure.
  • Be the primary point of contact in the initial stages of any terminal emergency situation (real or simulated) and take actions detailed within Emergency Response Procedures Manual.
  • Site First Aider when on shift.

 

3. Facility Operations Management (Operational Efficiency):

 

  • Receive and report status of operation to colleagues and others as necessary, to facilitate continued safe operation of the location through changes of shift and personnel.
  • Ensure compliance with the Terminal Operating Procedures Manual.
  • React to calls form drivers on the loading bays and resolve loading issues.
  • Ensure proper operation of all equipment (including Loading System) and report any equipment failures.
  • Timely completion of Operational routines which have been assigned to individual or to the Terminal Operations Controller role.
  • Stand in for the Deputy Terminal Manager as required.
  • Maintain close working relationship with terminal and mobile maintenance personnel.
  • Participate fully in all initiatives and developments aimed at improving operations on the site.
  • Contribute to the effectiveness of team meetings, safety meetings and other activities to assist in the continuing improvement of the location.
  • Work with others (internally and externally) to promote the best interests of Company and the location.
  • Support the Duty Terminal Operations Controller when not the Duty Terminal Operations Controller.

 

4. Product Management: Quality, Measurement, Controls:

 

  • Ensure Controls compliance in all areas of responsibility and to communicate any controls concerns to the Deputy Terminal Manager or the Terminal Manager.
  • Ensure good stock control and report/resolve any known or suspected discrepancies.
  • Ensure sampling and testing operations performed in accordance with Product Quality Guidance Manual.

 

 

About you

 

To be eligible for this role, you should:

 

  • 1 year experience in similar position at another location OR has received suitable training in terminal operations and has been assessed by the Deputy Terminal Manager and Terminal Manager as having reached the required competency standard.
  • English and Mathematics to GCSE Grade C or above. 
  • HNC or equivalent in a mechanical or electrical trade or relative extensive experience in handling flammable liquids.
     

Preferred Qualifications / Experience

 

  • Good knowledge of Health & Safety legislation and practices.
  • Ability to work well with others and as part of a team.    
  • Demonstrated understanding of and concern for safety and business controls.
  • Oral and written communication skills.
  • Initiative and judgement to identify problems and use available resources to solve them.
  • Knowledge of oil products, operating terminal and equipment and technology.
  • Knowledge of OIMS, D&A Policy, LPS, Work Controls Procedures and Product Quality.
  • Capability with standard Microsoft IT systems (Word & Excel).
