Description:
Reporting directly to the HS Supervisor, the HS Coordinator is responsible for the coordination and provision of day-to-day and medium-term Health, Safety and Environmental support to operated assets. The role involves the following fundamental responsibilities:
- Assists with the development and implementation of all HSE programs for Production Operations.
- Promotes and ensures CPC’s Life Saving Rules are being discussed, followed, and understood.
- Leads investigations / Learning Teams for HSE related incidents. Conduct follow-up assessments on Near Misses, Hazard ID’s, and Behavior Based Safety reporting systems.
- Ensures a high degree of visibility during daily activities, providing front line safety coaching and assistance to Production Operations.
The HS Coordinator is expected to have a working knowledge across all facets of Health, Safety & Environmental issues and provide support to the Field Leadership to ensure regulatory compliance and improve HSE performance in alignment with high reliability organization (HRO) principles.
This is a 14/14 rotational position.
Responsibilities:
- Support and comply with the policies, procedures, and programs of CPC’s Health, Safety and Environmental (HSE) Management System.
- Ensuring company procedures are in place and maintained to allow all relevant legislation (WorkSafe BC, Alberta OH&S, AER, BCER, etc.) to be complied with.
- Participate in onsite safety meetings by developing content and delivering the HSE messaging during the meetings.
- Conduct health and safety related incident investigation and development of correct action plans.
- Contractor engagement with onsite third-party contractors, attending kick off meetings, liaising with Contractor HSE and Field Leadership representatives.
- Demonstrate active safety leadership at the work face, build trust with workforce and understand how work is done.
- Demonstrate practical knowledge of oil and gas process plant and field hazards.
- Plan, coordinate, and communicate daily activities for the area ensuring alignment with area field leaders.
- Liaise with Environmental and Industrial Hygiene Coordinators to ensure all elements of relevant legislation are complied with.
Required Qualifications:
- Diploma in Occupational Health & Safety or CRSP Designation.
- Minimum 5 years of direct health, safety, and environment experience
- Incident Investigation experience and training
- Legally authorized to work in Canada on a full-time basis without restrictions
- Ability to quickly build strong relationships and positively influence others.
- Ability to effectively communicate and influence in a collaborative manner.
- Effective listening skills
- Strong organizational skills and ability to map out planning workflows, schedules, and track results.
- Competent in Microsoft Office programs.
- Creative, adaptive, and flexible mindset.
Preferred Qualifications:
- 5+ years of health and safety experience in an energy/industrial operation setting.
- Canadian Registered Safety Professional (CRSP).
