Permian Basin Overview
ConocoPhillips and its heritage companies have operated in the Permian Basin for almost 100 years. Across New Mexico and Texas, the company holds conventional positions in the Northwest Shelf and Central Basin Platform, and an unconventional position in the Delaware Basin. Permian saw significant growth in 2021 with the acquisition of Concho Resources Inc. in January 2021 and the addition of Shell’s Permian acreage in December 2021. At year-end, the company held approximately 1.5 million net acres in the Permian Basin.
Net production for the Permian in 2022 was 461 MBOED.

Description
As the Instrument, Controls, & Electrical Projects Supervisor, you will play a pivotal role in overseeing the installation and troubleshooting of instrument, control, and electrical systems within our organization. You will lead a team of talented technicians, ensuring the highest level of performance and efficiency in Capital and Operations projects. Your responsibilities will include planning, organizing, and coordinating I&E activities, managing resources, and collaborating with cross-functional teams to achieve project objectives.
This position can be based in Midland, Texas or Carlsbad, New Mexico.
Responsibilities may include:
1. Team Leadership:
- Supervise, mentor, and guide a team of Project Leads and Specialists specializing in instrumentation, controls, and electrical
- Foster a collaborative and innovative work environment, promoting continuous learning and skill development
- Set clear performance expectations, provide regular feedback, and conduct performance evaluations
- Identify and assist in development of standardization of processes and policies
- Lead adoption of standard processes and identify gaps to corporate standards
- Oversee contractor engagement and champion safety initiatives
- Lead and assist in promoting ConocoPhillips’ safety culture
2. Project Management:
- Plan, execute, and oversee projects related to instrumentation, controls, and electrical systems, ensuring they meet quality, safety, and regulatory and corporate standards
- Work with IC&E Engineers, Operations, and First Delivery to develop project schedules and resource allocation plans
- Lead execution team to monitor project progress, identify potential issues, and implement corrective actions as necessary
3. Instrumentation and Control Systems:
- Oversee Installation of instrumentation and control systems
- Collaborate with IC&E engineering department and stakeholders to integrate control systems into larger projects
4. Electrical Systems:
- Assist and manage the installation of low voltage electrical systems
- Ensure compliance with electrical codes and safety regulations
Basic/Required:
- Must be legally authorized to work in the United States on a full-time basis for anyone other than current employer
- 5+ years of oil & gas experience
- Intermediate proficiency in project management skills, including the ability to manage budgets and resources effectively
- Advanced knowledge of industry-specific regulations and standards
Preferred:
- 10+ years of Instrumentation & Controls experience
- 5+ years of experience in a supervisory or leadership role
- Proficiency in relevant software tools, PLC programming, and control systems
- Proven experience in instrumentation, controls, and electrical projects
- Strong communication skills
- Ability to influence cross-functional teams in a fast paced environment
- Takes ownership of actions and follows through on commitments by holding others accountable and standing up for what’s right
- Delivers results through realistic planning to accomplish goals
- Builds positive relationships based on trust and seeks collaboration across organizational boundaries to achieve goals
