Job Summary

Midland Basin Overview

ConocoPhillips holds approximately 376,000 total net acres in the Midland Basin, which includes approximately 251,000 unconventional net acres located in the heart of West Texas. The company operates over 3,100 wells across Midland, Upton, Andrews, Martin, and Glasscock counties.

In 2022, the company operated five drilling rigs and brought 111 operated wells online. Net production in 2022 averaged 140 MBOED.

Description

Infrastructure Mapping Specialists are ConocoPhillips’ source of identifying and mapping buried pipelines, underground utility, and facility lines in the Permian Basin. Infrastructure Mapping Specialists are responsible for accurately mapping all lines and submitting information to become part of the company’s GIS data base. Infrastructure Mapping Specialists are to remain active in damage prevention to prevent line strikes and aid with third party crossings. The position requires geospatial aptitude, good communication and teamwork skills, and the ability to coordinate multiple projects. Candidates with a general knowledge of oil and gas operations, GIS and line locating will be given preference. The successful candidate will need to meet the following requirements as well as other job-related duties that may develop.

This is a Safety Sensitive position.

Job Description

Responsibilities may include:

  • Adhere to all company policies and procedures
  • Implement stop-work authority to shut down operations deemed detrimental to the health and safety of people or the environment
  • Perform a job safety analysis (JSA)
  • Report unsafe acts and conditions, near misses, incidents and other unplanned events
  • Attend and participate in required safety meetings and training classes
  • Use, inspect and maintain appropriate / required safety equipment and personal protective equipment (PPE)
  • Participate in audits and address any assigned findings with corrective actions
  • Coordinate third party crossings near ConocoPhillips infrastructure for observation
  • Maintain right of way signage as necessary for existing lines
  • Record and submit accurate timesheets and expense reports
  • Maintain company equipment in good working condition
  • Maintain company vehicles in a clean and safe condition
  • Manage contract vendors adequately
  • Responds resourcefully, flexibly, and positively when faced with challenges and demands
  • Transmits information so it is received and understood in the way it was intended

Basic/Required:

  • Must be legally authorized to work in the United States on a full-time basis for anyone other than current employer
  • Current / Valid Driver’s License
  • 1+ years of direct experience in line locating and GIS functions
  • 1+ years of experience of locating equipment, surveying equipment and GIS programs
  • Intermediate proficiency with Microsoft O365 applications: Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint, SharePoint, Teams, and Word
  • Willing and able (with or without reasonable accommodations) to perform job related duties in all types of weather conditions

Preferred:

  • Intermediate knowledge of FERC, PHMSA, and 811 regulations
  • Intermediate proficiency with UtiliSphere and KorTerra applications
  • Intermediate proficiency with GIS applications
  • Ability to handle multiple projects
  • Transmits information so it is received and understood in the way it was intended
  • Responds resourcefully, flexibly, and positively when faced with challenges and demands
  • Takes ownership of actions and follows through on commitments by holding others accountable and standing up for what is right
  • Delivers positive results through realistic planning to accomplish goals
