Instrument Designer – Meerssen, Netherlands

Language Requirement: Dutch-speaking (Fluent)

Contract Duration: Initial 12 Month Contract working via Leap29, after the 12 months you will go into a potential permanent position

A leading engineering and project delivery firm is looking for an experienced Instrument Designer to support ongoing industrial projects in Meerssen, Netherlands. This role involves the preparation of detailed instrumentation design deliverables and coordination with multidisciplinary teams to ensure accurate, efficient, and compliant execution. Fluency in Dutch is essential for daily communication with local stakeholders and project teams.

Key Responsibilities:

• Prepare and maintain instrumentation design drawings, including loop diagrams, hook-up drawings, instrument location layouts, and cable schedules.
• Develop and manage the instrument index and data sheets in alignment with engineering specifications.
• Ensure designs meet relevant Dutch and international standards and client specifications.
• Collaborate with engineers and other disciplines to ensure consistent and integrated design deliverables.
• Provide support in the preparation of material take-offs and technical documentation for procurement.
• Liaise with vendors, subcontractors, and clients for technical alignment.
• Participate in on-site activities such as surveys, construction support, and commissioning, if required.
• Maintain design documentation using appropriate document management systems.

Qualifications:

• MBO or HBO degree in Instrumentation, Electrical Engineering, or a related discipline.
• At least 5 years of relevant experience in instrumentation design within industrial, energy, or process environments.
• Proficient in AutoCAD and/or SmartPlant Instrumentation (SPI), or equivalent tools.
• Knowledge of NEN, IEC, and other relevant standards.
• Strong organisational and communication skills.
• Fluent in Dutch (mandatory) and proficient in English.
