  • Applicants must have housing accommodations or transportation in the Houston area, as Precision does not provide internship housing.
  • By May 22, 2024, applicants must have completed at least their first year of study in a post-secondary program/Technical Institute (see job posting). 

Summary

The ML Developer Intern will be involved as part of the drilling optimization team. The position reports to the Team Lead, Data Innovation and works closely with Machine Learning and Data Analytics Developers, Data Scientists as well as the Optimization team with the goal of finding opportunities for rig performance improvement by leveraging modern data mining and machine learning techniques over large data sets.  

 

Responsibilities

  • Perform exploratory data analysis, feature engineering and selection, algorithm selection and optimization. 

  • Develop and tune machine learning algorithms to analyze large data sets, derive insights and make inferences. 

  • Design machine learning systems, as well as artificial intelligence tools to automate certain predictive models and tasks. 

  • Analyze and interpret machine learning outputs to enable interpretability and future improvements. 

  • Develop pipelines for ongoing monitoring and re-training as required. 

  • Develop and maintain technical documentation

Time Management skills – Can prioritize multiple responsibilities, meet deadlines, and estimate time required for completion of tasks. 

 

Education

Pursuing/Recently completed Degree or Technical Diploma in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or Data Science 

 

Experience

Knowledge of Python is a must 

Experience with Probability and Statistics is a must 

Familiarity with machine learning frameworks (like Keras or PyTorch) and libraries (like scikit-learn) is a must 

Familiarity with Large Language Models is a must 

Familiarity with SQL and Snowflake data cloud is an asset. 

Experience with Azure data technologies such as Azure ML, Azure Kubernetes, and Azure Data Lake is good to have 

Knowledge of ETL performance tuning techniques would be an asset  

Familiarity with data visualization tools such as PowerBI and\or Grafana is an asset 

Any experience with Kafka data streaming will be a plus 

Oil & Gas experience is a plus
