Description:

ConocoPhillips Canada (CPC) is currently recruiting for a Calgary-based IT Infrastructure Architect. The position will be responsible for planning, designing, assembling, and overseeing the Canada BU infrastructure systems on both the IT and OT environments. They will be required to assess the operation’s existing resources, work with global counter parts to determine any changes that may be needed and make recommendations. Other tasks may include supporting the industrial control network and business automation & operations teams. The role will also be working closely with Operational teams to understand and accommodate business process and technology needs. This position will be responsible for the coordination, design, planning, and maintenance tasks related to Storage, Server and CDI assets in the DMZ, Business and PCN environments.

Responsibilities:

Provides thoughtful leadership and technical architecture design, drives designs to implementation and conducts proof of concepts as required. Work with business owners to ensure that implemented solutions as well as operational activities satisfy business requirements and are delivered in a timely manner. Specific areas include:

  • Responsible for complete infrastructure design, systems analysis, security, data center operation & network communication
  • Drives short- & long-term architecture strategy for the overall IT project portfolio for key business segments
  • Participates in proof of concepts to assist in defining technology direction and enabling business strategy
  • Communicates and validates program architecture with infrastructure teams
  • Work with business and data team to develop long-term strategy for historical data retention and archival plan for storage needs
  • Design and develop infrastructure blueprints for the implementation of new solutions
  • Responsible for impact analysis and design modifications to existing systems to support new solutions
  • Provide third level support for incidents and problems in designated areas of expertise
  • Communicate and collaborate with local IT staff as well as global counterparts for configuration & troubleshooting.
  • Provide support to workstation, VM and Storage and Backup systems
  • Responsible for IT ICS topology and architecture design, specification, configuration, testing, start-up, and system support.
  • Providing design, development support, and startup assistance on automation projects.
  • Providing technical support and detailed documentation of ICS topology and architecture.
  • Working closely with Operations Department to ensure reliability of process operation and control through daily monitoring of systems performance.
  • Capacity planning for systems and hardware in the DMZs, business and Process Control Networks (PCN).
  • Develop and manage strong relationships with business partners.
  • Communicate and work with the other departments to ensure the needs of business units are met.
  • Plan and support tasks related to a full control system migration that is technically complex and within critical areas of the plant infrastructure.
  • Provide leadership and guidance to staff in the areas of systems management and technical support.

Required Qualifications:

  • Must be legally authorized to work in Canada on a full-time basis without restrictions.
  • Bachelor’s degree in computer science, management information systems, engineering, or equivalent experience.
  • Experience working and supporting critical systems in an ICS or Production Control environment would be a significant advantage
  • Minimum 12 years of related technology industry experience with Microsoft windows operating systems. Experience with Linux OS experience is a plus
  • Experience with VMWare (vCenter, ESXi, vSAN) infrastructure is preferred.
  • PowerShell scripting knowledge would be an asset.
  • Demonstrated professional knowledge of networking fundamentals – switching, routing and firewalls
  • Knowledge of Microsoft security concepts, active directory, group policy, including configuration and security for Windows 11, 2016 and 2019 servers.
  • Solid understanding of cyber security policies and practices
  • Experience migrating and upgrading system infrastructure
  • Experience driving adoption in new and upcoming technologies
  • Requires a broader, general understanding of various IT disciplines.
  • Identifies problems and develops potential solutions.
  • Makes decisions within well-defined parameters.
  • Experience running mid-size projects in a large organization
  • Strong analytical, troubleshooting, and problem-solving skills – experience in analyzing and understanding business/technology system architectures, databases, and client applications
  • Excellent customer-facing skills is a requirement
  • Strong documentation and process management skills is a requirement
