BASIC ACCOUNTABILITY

Under the general direction of the Manager, the JV Accountant supports Devon Energy by assisting the JV Accounting team with various job dutiies as assigned. Primary responsibilities include researching and responding to JV Audits and working with JV customers to resolve questions on JIB billings. Duties can also include reconciling accounts, preparing journal entries and special projects as assigned. Must be able to work effectively with peers and other management across disciplines in order to coordinate activities. Must be able to manage desk to meet monthly deadlines.

 

EDUCATION

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance preferred

 

EXPERIENCE

  • 1-3 years of JVA experience preferred
  • Understanding of COPAS accounting procedures preferred
  • Experience making journal entries preferred

 

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Coordinate Audits with JV Partners.  Research and respond timely to all Audit reports received.
  • Collaborate with various Accounting, Land and Operations teams to research and resolve questions from JV partners on JIB billings.
  • Work directly with JV partners to ensure timely collections of JIB billings.
  • Preparing monthly JV accounting journal entries and schedules, as assigned.
  • Reconciling balance sheet accounts on a monthly basis, as assigned.
  • Maintaining accurate records and ensuring compliance with accounting policies and procedures.
  • Participating in special projects and ad hoc duties as needed.
  • Develop and promote recommendations that enhance the efficiency and effectiveness of the department

  • Effective communication and interpersonal skills. 
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a team environment.
  • Proficiency in Excel and other similar financial tools.
