Partner with the best

As a Lead Customs specialist, you will oversee and manage customs compliance operations within our Baker Hughes IET (Industrial & Energy Technology) organization, ensuring that import/export activities adhere to local, national and international customs regulations. You will also ensure smooth compliant and cost effective cross-border transactions.

As a Lead Customs specialist, you will be responsible for:

  • Acting as business focal point for any customs operations related matters to facilitate and drive process enhancement and adherence,

  • Acting as primary point of contact for internal stakeholders, customers and vendor queries

  • Performing the processing of imports, resolving daily inquiries; processing and filing of customs declarations and issuing clearance instructions

  • Providing import & export documentation support; resolving issues relating to clearance of transactional goods in cohesion with brokers and logistics functions

  • Performing reviews of customs declarations, broker invoices; reporting findings, investigating cause of defects, rectifying incorrect declarations and recommending solutions and improvements

  • Assessing import and export customs processes; uncovering efficiency and quality opportunities, enhancing processes and ensuring documentation is in accordance with local regulation and corporate policy

Fuel your passion

To be successful in this role you will:

  • Have a Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university

  • Have significant experience in customs, logistics and trade compliance and demonstrate initiatives and ownership in a high volume environment

  • Be able to demonstrate expert knowledge and understanding of UK and EU Customs regulations and associated processes

  • Show excellent interpersonal communication skills with emphasis on building and nurturing good working relations coupled with an organized and methodical approach

  • Demonstrate  excellent oral and written communication in the English language; with French, Spanish or German being advantageous to your application

  • Have an good compliance and controllership mindset across customs, quality and legislation

  • Be able to demonstrate problem solving and resolving challenges efficiently in a high volume environment
