HYBRID ELIGIBILITY
This position works a hybrid schedule, spending time remotely and in the office in Tioga, ND. The current hybrid schedule provides flexibility to collaborate in the office Tuesdays through Thursdays and work from home Mondays and Fridays. With our 9/80 feature you get time off every other Friday when you work at least 80 hours over the preceding nine days.
POSITION SUMMARY
This role is responsible for leading the reliability strategy for the midstream assets of Hess. This position is a key leadership role and part of the MS leadership team. This role leads maintenance and reliability engineers supporting all midstream assets in addition to leading condition monitoring and repair/refurbishment reliability engineering for all upstream and midstream assets. This team is accountable to improve equipment reliability and productivity in support of the asset’s safety, environmental, production, and cost targets.
This role works in conjunction with multiple other teams including Operations, Maintenance, Upstream Reliability Engineering, Integrity, Infrastructure, EHS, Finance, GSC, Central functions and the Technical Authority network.
ROLES & RESPONSIBILITIES
- Develop, maintain and assure Maintenance Strategies
- Optimize preventative, predictive, and condition-based maintenance based on failure history, inspections, and definitive analysis of cost and benefits
- Lifecycle Cost Optimization
- Develop, implement, and sustain an evergreen reliability roadmap for assigned equipment based on equipment criticality, and system/equipment availability and vulnerability.
- Utilize a data-driven approach to understand true life cycle costs of equipment. This teams as an operational representative to the Front-End Engineering design review teams that will include the data for selection of best equipment for service.
- Develops and manages critical metrics to Identify asset/equipment reliability performance and bad actors lists. Through data analysis priorities are established to identify improvement focus areas.
- Root Cause Analysis
- Conduct root cause analysis (RCA) according to business rules, confirm implementation and effectiveness of countermeasures, and establishing priority for performed work based on data-driven approach. Looks at trends of equipment failures to adjust existing strategies to address systemic gaps of equipment performance. Make sure equipment failures are properly determined and tracked
- Maintenance Failures / Repairs
- Provide technical expertise to Ops & Crafts on troubleshooting failures, repairs, and evaluating whether equipment is designed to meet its intended or existing service conditions
- During repairs, closely follow jobs to ensure that repair details such as clearances, tolerances, materials of construction, welding procedures, etc. are provided and documented. Provide technical support and involve asset SMEs and suppliers/vendors as needed
- Ensure repair techniques, repair procedures, and equipment specific training are documented and made available
- Work with Infrastructure and Reliability Operations to determine opportunities for repurposing equipment
- Develop and implement preservation strategies for critical spare equipment and parts that are stored on-site or off-site for extended periods of time
- Equipment Surveillance
- Provide equipment surveillance to assure performance as expected or impending issues are recognized and acted proactively.
- Provide situational vibration, thermographic, IR, oil analysis, beta, PD, AMS surveys on problematic equipment
- Develop reliability driven metrics for equipment such as MTBF, MTTR, etc.
- Enables and assists in the training of Operators, Mechanics, and other team members to convey the “why” of equipment related issues
- Key engagement in capital projects to assure RCM principles are integrated into new builds.
- Identifies when additional focus needs to be placed to drive reliability culture and institutionalizing best practices across the organization
- Maintain awareness of emerging technology, assessing applicability to improve reliability and performance, or to reduce maintenance cost
- Able to maintain on-call flexibility to control abnormal conditions (e.g. IMT and night/weekend support as needed)
QUALIFICATIONS
Experience
- Minimum of 10 years of experience in refining, petrochemical, upstream in oil and gas or industrial industry
- 3 years of leadership experience as formal people leader in production environment preferred
- Strong experience in a progressive reliability organization a must with strong maintenance experience and operations experience a plus.
- Strong knowledge of applicable EHS procedures/practices such as Permit to Work, Energy Isolation, Emergency Response
- Strong understanding of industry codes and standards and processes (i.e. ASME, API, ANSI, Lean, RCM, FMEA)
- Significant knowledge on rotating, fixed, electrical, instrumentation and controls equipment
- Strong understanding of business drivers, management of change requirements, reliability processes, and maintenance workflow
- Proficient computer skills / business system knowledge (SAP, Spotfire, Excel)
- Strong analytical, technical, and problem-solving skills
- Drive transformational approach to reliability, ability to deliver & follow through on strategic objectives
Education, Training & Certifications
- Bachelor of Science degree in an engineering discipline is required
