Job description
Lead SPS Engineering Services
Location: Paris or London during the FEED phase, transitioning to EPC locations or Baku, Azerbaijan, as the project progresses.
Status: Residential
We are seeking a highly experienced Lead SPS Engineer to manage the Subsea Production Systems (SPS) engineering and design scope for a major offshore subsea gas pipeline project. The position will commence in the FEED (Front-End Engineering Design) phase, with the potential to continue through to the EPC (Engineering, Procurement, and Construction) phase and the completion of the development stage. You will play a key role in ensuring the project is delivered safely, on time, and within budget.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead all activities related to Subsea Production Systems, from basic engineering through to detailed engineering, qualification, manufacturing, fabrication, construction, installation, and pre-commissioning, while adhering to local content requirements.
- Review and approve SPS contractor engineering deliverables.
- Coordinate technical reviews and ensure compliance with industry standards and project specifications.
- Identify, resolve, and report any technical issues that may arise throughout the SPS package scope.
- Review designs, calculations, simulations, and analyses to ensure the integrity and reliability of subsea equipment.
- Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to optimise subsea system performance.
- Conduct risk assessments and implement mitigation measures.
- Apply a systems-level approach to activities such as process flow diagrams (PFDs), field layouts, production assurance, flow assurance, and reliability modelling.
- Oversee testing and commissioning philosophies, material selection, coatings, and cathodic protection.
- Ensure compliance with process safety, protection, and risk management protocols.
- Identify and evaluate key technical risks, implementing mitigations and maintaining an updated risk register.
- Liaise with QHSES and QAQC teams to ensure SPS designs are safe, operable, and maintainable.
- Assist the QA/QC Manager with all quality-related issues concerning SPS engineering.
- Attend all relevant engineering meetings and ensure the timely resolution and close-out of documents.
Context & Environment: The project is located offshore in the Caspian Sea, approximately 100km southeast of Baku, Azerbaijan. It involves tying the offshore subsea gas pipeline into an onshore Central Processing Facility (CPF) for gas condensate separation and compression. The project aims to supply natural gas to both domestic and international markets.
Qualifications & Experience:
- Minimum of 15 years of professional experience in SPS engineering.
- Extensive experience working on major offshore oil and gas projects.
- Strong leadership and communication skills, with the ability to manage multiple interfaces.
- Fluency in English is essential.
If you are an experienced SPS engineer seeking a challenging role in a high-profile project, we would love to hear from you.
