The Manager Technical Assurance (Electrical) role is based at our offices in Woking, Surrey. Woking is on the main commuter line, with easy access to and from London and very close to the M25.

JOB TITLE: MANAGER TECHNICAL ASSURANCE (ELECTRIC)
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Perform and/or review and understand power system studies.
- Understand and explain technical limitations and opportunities for design optimisation.
- Adopt the position as leading technical authority (or equivalent according to any client-specific terminology) on bids and projects.
- Develop and maintain relationships with key partner companies.
- Responsible for reviewing contract documents and discipline-specific critical documents in the project.
- Conduct technical audits and gate reviews on projects by working within the project schedule constraints. Ensure the necessary level of technical assurance and integrity is achieved through coordination and validation of engineering activities.
- Participate, contribute, and deliver to project critical design reviews and client discussions.
- Support, provide advice to the project team in planning, identifying, and mitigating technical constraints, and provide pragmatic decisions to progress the design in line with best industry practice.
- Participate in value engineering sessions for proposals and projects and recommend cost-effective improvements to design within the scope of client specifications and requirements.
- Formulate resolutions to technically challenging issues on projects or proposals and effectively communicate with the stakeholders.
- Acquire knowledge of local regulatory requirements in the regions in which projects are executed. Provide input to projects and proposals to identify local regulatory requirements that may impact costs, schedules, and design requirements.
- Interface with vendors/licensors as and when required to resolve critical issues affecting budget, schedule, or adherence to project specifications.
- When required, lead projects technically as appropriate, maintaining good levels of personal project utilization.

- Interface with/provide clarification/guidance and technical support to project teams, customers and third parties for their discipline specialty.
- Articulate basis and benefits of recommendations to HOD’s, Project Engineering Managers and stakeholders in both Petrofac and client organisations.
- Maintain links to industry institutions and vendors.
- Represent Petrofac at external events, exhibitions and conferences where appropriate.
- Liaise with Technical Authorities and Heads of Departments across Petrofac to ensure lessons learned and best practice are universally applied
- Review discipline-specific functional guidelines, procedures, and checklists and recommend improvements
- Participate and lead in the approval of discipline-specific lessons learned and disseminate the same to the team
- Conduct presentations and seminars to train and share good practices

Essential qualifications & skills:
- Chartered Engineer
- Experience in Conceptual/FEED/Detail Design and EPC projects
- Understanding contract technical requirements
- Knowledge of International specifications and codes
- Thorough understanding of the requirements of safety and quality procedures
- Specialist / high competency in electrical engineering & specifically power system design
- Possess a broad understanding of multi-discipline engineering for all project phases, from Concept to EPC and Operations
- Have a strong knowledge and appreciation of multidiscipline engineering design activities to ensure engineering consistency and application of lessons learned on previous projects.
- Flexible and responsive approach to achieve clients needs
- Possess electrical engineering expertise, particularly in the field of power system design and optimisation.
