Job Summary

The ConocoPhillips Norsea Terminal, located in Teesside at the mouth of the river Tees, is a crude oil reception, processing, storage, and trans-shipment installation. The terminal also fractionates natural gas liquids into ethane, propane, and butane. 

The terminal’s success is built on its high performing workforce and can provide opportunities throughout your career to progress and continually develop. With ongoing production from Ekofisk and Eldfisk, other redeveloped fields and new exploration projects in the works, the future looks bright as we prepare for a lifetime to 2050.

Reporting to the Asset Integrity Team Leader, the candidate will provide Mechanical Engineering support to the Asset Integrity Team as Fabrication Technical Authority, and to enable successful delivery of AI Projects and Anomalies, Shutdowns, Turnarounds and Outages and projects aimed at reducing plant threats.

Job Description

Primary Responsibilities

  • Responsible for the day-to-day management of a large FM term contract (circa 100 Contract personnel)
  • Act as the site Fabrication Technical Authority, responsible for evaluating and managing responses to all Fabrication related technical queries (TQs) 
  • Responsible for providing overall Project Management of a portfolio of projects (Fabrication biased) resulting from the site’s inspection and anomaly program
  • Developing invitation to bid / scope of work documents and subsequently evaluating tender packages
  • Carrying out audits and readiness reviews to ensure projects comply with the project delivery process and align with key delivery milestones
  • Project managing and controlling any modifications / changes through the management of change process, in compliance with site standards and current legislation
  • Liaising with the Operations team to ensure permits and operational controls are in place
  • Be a visible safety champion within the organisation, driving standards and supporting investigations as required
  • Monitoring contractor compliance with site working requirements and safety performance

Financial / Contract and Personnel Management 

  • Responsible to monitor the contract value and Project costs ensuring that the work scope is effectively delivered, and the scope is not expanded or changed unless the appropriate process is followed and approved
  • Generates ideas for cost saving/efficiencies
  • Determine and prepare budgets and estimates for input into the maintenance budget
  • Monitoring of relevant budget and spend
  • Coach, support and mentor peers

Competency Requirements

  • Degree educated in relevant Engineering Discipline (preferably chartered status) 
  • Strong experience in Fabrication and Mechanical work
  • Strong experience in cost management
  • Experience in contract ownership for large FM term contracts
  • Industrial Relations experience
  • Hold a Full UK driving licence and to drive company vehicles were appropriate
  • Demonstrate effective communication and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to use Microsoft Office applications, familiarity with SAP or similar ERP systems
  • Effective reporting skills, communication and workload management
  • Able to adapt to unexpected challenges and shifting priorities
