About the Role

In this position you will be responsible for the safe execution of preventative and corrective maintenance tasks on plant and field equipment and provide technical assistance to the Operations Teams. The Mechanical Fitter is a key role in our Santos operated plant and field locations.

  

Key accountabilities include:  

  • Perform preventative maintenance inspections and corrective maintenance on all campaign-assigned equipment, including but not limited to gas turbine packages and systems.
  • Ensure scheduled work is executed safely and on time, with constant reference to work instructions and other execution documents. 
  • Proactively participate in the embedded safety systems and the improvement of the safety culture.
  • Ensure emergent and break-in work is planned and executed according to the risk ranking and business priorities.
  • Inspect, test, adjust and repair mechanical equipment to satisfy all appropriate governing standards and procedures. 
  • Position and install mechanical equipment, recording test results using precision measurement equipment. 
  • Demonstrate a high-quality knowledge of fault-finding, with the ability to trouble shoot autonomously. 
  • Actively participate in the continuous improvement of maintenance systems and procedures

  

About You

The ideal candidate will have a Mechanical Trade Certificate, completed apprenticeship training with ideally experience working in live gas plants. Your excellent communication and problem-solving skills and an utmost commitment to safety in essential. To be successful, your background will also include:

  • Post trade experience working within systems, tools, standards for the mining resources and energy industry, with oil and gas being advantageous.  
  • Knowledge of turbines, plant processes, equipment, and fault-finding techniques
  • Excellent understanding of gas engine turbines and the ability to identify corrective actions (highly desirable)
  • Excellent understanding and interpretation of relevant drawings. 
  • Experience with SAP and computerised Maintenance Management Systems (highly desirable)
