The post is based offshore on the Douglas Platform on a 22/22/23 rotation

 

JOB TITLE: MECHANICAL TECHNICIAN

 

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • The safe, efficient and effective operation of the installation, including satellites, static and rotating mechanical equipment and associated systems

  • Safeguarding the reliability, availability and “fit for purpose” operational condition of static and rotating mechanical equipment and systems sufficient to meet the operational availability targets of the asset

  • Perform all assigned servicing, conditioning, fault diagnosis and restorative maintenance duties and tasks safely and efficiently on all assigned safety equipment, under the supervision and direction of a specialist contractor, where and when appropriate

  • Assist specialist contractor personnel as necessary in the undertaking and execution of preventative and corrective maintenance activity and tasks on the safety equipment

  • Isolation / de-isolate process systems and static and rotating mechanical equipment in accordance with Client Operating Procedures and Standards, including:  de-pressurising, draining, double block and bleed, flushing, purging, HVAC, power generation, gas compression, hydrocarbon production, processing and export

  • Perform all necessary servicing, condition monitoring, fault diagnosis and restorative maintenance duties and tasks safely, efficiently and effectively on static and rotating mechanical equipment, including:  HVAC, power generation, fire pumps, utilities systems and equipment such as diesel, seawater, instrument and plant air, gas compression, hydrocarbon production, processing and export

  • Ensure all relevant equipment performance and condition data is recorded accurately for input into SAP

  • Understand the work plan and liquidate work safely and on time

  • Re-prioritise preventative maintenance work as necessary to accommodate unforeseen corrective maintenance tasks to enable safety and production to be sustained and / or restored

  • Ensure work programmes and schedules are completed safely, efficiently, effectively and within planned timescales

  • Act as competent person, when required, in witnessing contractor tests on static and rotating mechanical equipment

  • Provide technical knowledge and experience in diagnosing and resolving maintenance and / or operational problems and identifying opportunities for improvement.

ESSENTIAL QUALIFICATIONS AND SKILLS:

  • ECITB: Maintaining Mechanical System of Plant and Equipment, Level 3 (NVQ) or equivalent

  • Basic Offshore Safety Induction and Emergency Training course

  • OGUK medical

  • ERT medical

  • MIST

  • Abrasive Wheels

  • Rotating Equipment Small Bore Tubing (RESBT) Stage 4

  • Mechanical Comp Ex

  • Rotalign Laser Awareness

  • Mechanical Joint Integrity Stage 3

  • Permit to work system awareness (preferably ISSoW)

  • Computerized planned maintenance system (preferably SAP)

  • STOP and/or Synergi awareness or equivalent

  • Manual handling

  • Team worker and team builder

  • Technical awareness

  • Accept responsibility

  • Initiative

  • Risk management

  • Written and oral communication

  • Safety conscious

  • Flexible and adaptable

  • Self-motivated

  • Ability to work at height, undertake confined space entry and engage in lone working as required

  • Experience in the offshore industry is advantageous
