Description:
 

ConocoPhillips Canada is seeking a Millwright to join our Surmont Operations team. This position is responsible for the safe execution of corrective, preventative, and predictive maintenance tasks associated with the site mechanical systems at our Surmont facility, a 140,000 b/d SAGD thermal oil plant near Fort McMurray, AB. Reporting to the Mechanical Shift Supervisor, the successful candidate will be accountable for safe and efficient delivery of mechanical maintenance for the facility and well pads. As the Mechanical/Rotating Equipment Millwright for the plant, this role will be part of a team that supports commissioning, and executes corrective and preventative maintenance work, while championing safe operating practices.

This is a 14/14 rotational role with flight coverage and camp accommodation provided.

Responsibilities:

  • Support and comply with the policies, goals, efforts, and programs of CPC’s Health, Safety and Environmental (HSE) Management System. Ensure HSE issues are given primary consideration in all activities undertaken within area of responsibility. Unsafe acts and/or conditions, no matter in what area of responsibility, are to be reported so corrective actions can be taken.
  • Participate in and contribute to all HSE&SD efforts in day-to-day activities.
  • Development of start-up / shut down procedures and safe operating practices for the facilities Mechanical/Rotating equipment.
  • Provide Mechanical/Rotating equipment support to operations, as well as provide guidance to contract staff on shift.
  • Responsible for maintenance of all mechanical/rotating equipment and static systems.
  • Coordinate the mechanical/rotating equipment control activities to maintain plant availability targets, and search for process enhancements
  • Responsible for developing and revising preventative maintenance plans through the MCR, maintenance change request procedure.
  • Responsible for providing planner feedback to improve corrective work order task lists.
  • Safely operate lifting equipment, which includes but not limited to overhead cranes, knuckle boom truck, carry deck, and spider cranes.
     

Required Qualifications:

  • Minimum 5-10 years of Mechanical/Rotating equipment experience
  • Valid inter-provincial certificate journeyman certification
  • Minimum 5 – 10 years Oil &/or Gas field experience is desirable
  • Legally authorized to work in Canada on a full-time basis without restrictions
     

Critical Skills:

  • Strong computer skills (MS products – Word; Excel; Project; PowerPoint)
  • SAP experience preferable. 
  • Strong knowledge of safe work practices and procedures for mechanical systems
  • Good team player and ability to work with Maintenance Scheduler and Maintenance Shift Supervisor to ensure the efficient and effective execution of the daily work.
  • Strong organizational and time management skills
  • A true understanding and commitment to HSE&SD leadership, DEI best practices, and CPC’s core values.
