Description:

ConocoPhillips Canada is currently recruiting for two Montney Optimization & Readiness Field Lead positions to join the Operations Assurance and Optimization Team. Working a 14/14 shift back-to-back rotational roster, the position will be based at our Montney Asset near Fort St. John, BC, and will be responsible for both partnering with the plant/field operations teams to identify and evaluate field improvement opportunities, whilst leading site-based Ops Readiness activities including, but not limited to, the facilitation and stewardship of Montney Pre Start Up Safety Review (PSSR) meetings and associated punch list item closeout.   
 

Reporting to the Operations Assurance & Optimization Superintendent, and working closely with the Montney Operations Assurance Lead, this position will support the transition from the Assurance phase of new projects through Ops Readiness and TCCC to enable a safe and efficient turnover to operations.

Responsibilities:
 

Optimization (20%)

  • Support field engagement (including with the frontline workforce and with the Montney Leadership Team) and promote understanding of the Montney Optimization priorities in line with the CPC digital roadmap and Operating Philosophy.
  • Liaise with the Montney workforce and Calgary Optimization Engineer to identify, promote, and evaluate improvement projects and potential cost reduction opportunities, integrating new technology where appropriate.
  • Regular collaboration with Surmont Optimization leads to knowledge share and demonstrate prior learnings and experience.
  • Establish a relationship with the Emerging Digital Technology Team and support technology trials that can be leveraged globally by other Business Units.

Operations Readiness (80%)

  • Lead & steward site-based Ops Readiness Activities identified within the Ops Readiness Checklist.
  • Facilitate and chair Montney PSSR Meetings with key stakeholders to ensure readiness across major projects, plant MOC’s and MMP projects.
  • Drive accountability and visibility in the identification, prioritization and close out of PSSR Punchlist items.
  • Collaborate with Surmont ORR Peers to develop and maintain a one Canada approach to Ops Readiness.
  • Liaise with key functional stakeholders to ensure that any deviation to the ORR checklist is risk assessed, clearly communicated, and controlled effectively.
  • Support the Calgary based Operations Assurance Lead in evaluating operability and optimal value solutions for facilities design.
  • Ensure full life costs including present value of spend and maintenance costs are considered while making CAPEX vs. OPEX decisions.
  • Provide support and collaborate with key field SMEs for ORR and startup of new facilities
  • Ensures HSE issues are given primary consideration in all activities undertaken within area of responsibility.
     

Required Qualifications:

  • Direct Operations Experience.
  • 10+ years industry experience with preference given to diverse role exposure.
  • The ability to understand/comprehend engineering products such as Basis of Design, facility layouts, P&IDs, Cause and Effect Diagrams, etc.
  • Experience with facilitating PSSRs and coordinating Punch List Item Closeout.
  • Must be legally eligible to work in Canada on a regular full-time basis without restrictions.
     

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Direct Montney field experience or experience with other similar condensate plays.
  • Experience with the identification, assessment, and mitigation of HSE & process safety/design risks through the Project and Commissioning phases (eg. HAZOP, LOPA , Bow Tie Risk Assessment and RAM studies)
