We are looking for a Naval Architect to join the team at our Zoetermeer office. As a Naval Architect at Seaway7, you will be responsible for the specialist naval architect support to Tenders, Project and implementation of new operational methods and equipment in our daily offshore operations.
What you will be doing
- Analysis of vessel performance and preparation of load and design input for the projects
- Support and advise the crew during the project execution
- Liaise with project teams, subcontractors, crew, clients and certification authorities
- You will be supported to consolidate your engineering knowledge, including working knowledge of design codes and standards, legislative requirements, and current best engineering practices.
Typical naval department activities are:
- Multi body analysis of marine operations
- Analysis including Workability, CFD and Mooring etc
- Quayside Mooring
- Vessel to vessel mooring
- Project specific tasks: DP capability analysis, Positioning footprints
- Stability of crane vessels, transportation barges, other vessels, submerged structures
- Longitudinal strength calculations
- Loadout engineering
- Transportation analysis. Design input for grillage and seafastening. Sailability limits
- Towing engineering. Tug selection
- Mating impact analysis
- Workability Forecast
- Preparation and class approval of loading manuals and onboard computer programs
- Preparation of parts of vessel’s operations manual.
- Supervision and checking of external engineering and Investigation of modification proposals
- Preparations for operational upgrades and preparing technical specifications for construction/conversion/modification of vessels/barges
- Engineering assistance for ship repair and dry-docking
- Design, weight, loading and cost calculation for vessels and barges
What you will bring to the team

Our Naval Architects typically have a relevant Engineering degree (MSc) in Naval Architecture, Marine or Offshore Technology and:
- Experience in offshore installation
- Professional and curious attitude
- Strong analytical skills and technical ability
- Flexible and collaborative approach to designs, changes and developments
- Ability to communicate with impact
- Advanced computer skills and knowledge of relevant software (AQWA, Ansys Fluent/CFX, Orcaflex, Shipshape, Matlab, GMoor, DPCap, MS Office)
- Comfortable working in a team, with high sense of responsibility.
