If you are selected as the Naval Architect/Marine Engineer, you will be responsible for providing subject matter expertise related to naval architecture and marine engineering to projects and operations worldwide.

This role is also open to individuals who may require visa sponsorship in the US.

Job Description

Responsibilities may include:

  • Provide technical support in Naval Architecture, Marine Engineering, and Marine Transportation expertise during project development, engineering, design, installation, and integration of marine assets including terminals, ships, fixed & floating offshore installations
  • Support Business Unit’s (BU’s) by solving technical problems related to existing ConocoPhillips marine assets and operations
  • Support technical vetting of ships and barges by conducting structural analyses and other technical evaluations
  • Contribute technical expertise to Low Carbon initiatives focused on reducing overall marine emissions
  • Develop sound solutions to technical problems
  • Contribute to the transfer and/or adoption of technology, proactively recommending new approaches to improve business results and efficiency, and proactively addresses risks that could derail a project
  • Make presentations to synthesize complex information and facilitate discussions with managers and employees
  • Provide project management to marine related Global Capital Projects organization
  • Lead contractor studies in support of projects and business units by developing scopes of work, schedules, budgets, and ensuring objectives are achieved
  • Participate in technology development including Joint Industry Programs that ConocoPhillips participates in as well as ConocoPhillips in-house R&D programs
  • Ensure technical compliance with Regulatory, Class and Company standards, guidelines, and practices
  • Perform engineering duties related to Naval Architecture and Marine Engineering including hydrostatics, hydrodynamics, and structural analysis
  • Participate in risk evaluation and management including HAZID and HAZOP workshops

Basic/Required:

  • Bachelor’s degree or higher in Naval Architecture, Marine Engineering, other related technical field, or foreign equivalent
  • 5+ years of experience in the oil and gas industry
  • 5+ years of practical relevant experience in naval architecture or marine engineering
  • Willing and able (with or without reasonable accommodation) to travel 25% of the time on a yearly basis

Preferred:

  • Legally authorized to work in the United States on a full-time basis for anyone other than current employer
  • Experience with LNG carriers or FSRU’s (design and/or operations)
  • Clearly demonstrated strong technical competence in field
  • Able to work with and motivate multi-discipline and multi-cultural team members
  • Demonstrated teambuilding ability with strong written and communication skills
  • Strong desire to learn and expand knowledge base
  • Thorough understanding of available marine technologies, hulls, LNG, alternative fuels, and marine equipment
  • Familiar with marine operations including offshore drilling, production, loading, transportation, and shipping
  • Experience in marine asset design (in various stages of concept selection to hand-over) and respective software tools
  • Knowledge of classification and certification aspects of hull design, configuration, and systems
