Job description
Deliver competent Health and Safety support to ensure compliance with statutory regulations and the company’s Integrated Management System. Work in close collaboration with the HSEQ team, offshore personnel, and cross-functional departments to continuously improve occupational safety and health standards across operations.
Main Responsibilities:
- Act as the primary point of contact for Risk Inventory & Evaluation (RI&E), ensuring compliance with regulations by coordinating assessments, tracking actions, overseeing closeouts, and aligning efforts with the health surveillance plan.
- Provide expert Health and Safety guidance to both management and employees, with a strong focus on occupational hygiene, safety practices, and adherence to applicable legislation and the client’s HSEQ management system.
- Lead and support the reporting, investigation, and root cause analysis of accidents and near misses, identifying and implementing corrective actions, and participating in investigations as necessary.
- Oversee the HSE reporting platform, ensuring data accuracy, completeness, and availability to relevant stakeholders.
- Maintain and regularly update the hazardous materials register; manage associated safety protocols and perform exposure limit calculations.
- Offer specialist advice on the appropriate selection and use of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE), while advocating for safer substitutes to hazardous substances where feasible.
- Conduct regular on-site inspections to verify compliance with safety standards and procedures across operations.
- Develop and implement targeted safety campaigns to raise awareness and drive compliance throughout the organization.
- Lead workforce health promotion initiatives and well-being activities to support a healthier, more engaged team.
- Encourage creative problem-solving and innovative thinking within the team to effectively address and overcome safety challenges.
Interfaces
- Collaborate closely with Operations, Project, Drilling and Wells teams, as well as other departments across the wider organization, to ensure alignment on HSE objectives and initiatives.
- Maintain strong communication and coordination with HSEQ colleagues to support consistent implementation of safety standards and best practices.

Requirements
Competencies
Language Proficiency
- Fluent in both Dutch and English, spoken and written.
Regulatory Knowledge
- In-depth understanding of Dutch occupational health and safety legislation (Arbo law).
Certifications
- Safety Engineer Level 3 (HVK) preferred, or Level 2 (MVK) with relevant experience.
- Occupational Health and Safety specialist certification (Arbeidshygienist – AH) is desirable.
- Qualified in incident investigation methodologies such as Topset, COMET, or Tripod.
Technical Expertise:
- Strong grasp of HSE legislation, hazardous materials management, risk systems, and safety hazards.
- Experienced user of Stoffenmanager (preferred).
Industry Experience:
- Minimum of 5 years in HSE roles within oil and gas production operations (preferably).
- Demonstrated experience in industrial, offshore, or drilling environments.
Core Competencies:
- Skilled in analysis, simplification of complex processes, and problem-solving.
- Strong team player with excellent communication, coaching, and interpersonal skills.
