POSITION SUMMARY

The Logistics Specialist (LS) role is essential to ensuring that maintenance activities are scheduled for completion by their due date. It requires prioritizing the work for the maintenance execution schedule and matching the capacities of resources and services to the work. The Logistics Specialist is particularly accountable for ‘managing the released backlog.’

 

This position will be located Offshore in the Gulf of Mexico on a rotational basis (14/14).

ROLES & RESPONSIBILITIES

Safety
• Ensure the facility is operated within all applicable government regulations, Hess EH&S standards, and procedures by performing routine worksite visits 
• Understand Stop Work Authority (SWA) and Ultimate Work Authority (UWA) per the GOM Operational Management System Manual, proactively using SWA when necessary 
• Participate in emergency response activities as a member of the Emergency Response Team 
• Knowledge of safety hazards and appropriate precautions applicable to work assignments 
• Participate in and facilitate Risk Assessment for the team 
• Participates in quarterly safety and failure analysis meetings

 

Quality
• Comply with all requirements in the Hess Operational Management System (HOMS)  documents
• Comply with the Hess Work Management process in SAP 
• Lead and participate in operating rhythm meetings as designated by the agreed Terms of Reference (TOR), including pre-meeting preparation to drive value in meeting discussion 
• Assist in long-term scheduling of Shutdowns, Turnarounds, and Outages (STO) 
• Accountable for ensuring the quality of SAP master data to standards (equipment, job summaries, historical data) 
• Actively demonstrate and support a strong Lean culture of continuous improvement to drive performance to new levels by: 
     •Eliminating waste to improve safety, quality, and delivery 
     •Implementing and sustaining standard processes (e.g., work instructions, 5S organization, swimlane mapping, etc.) 
     •Performing structured problem-solving (e.g., 5-Whys, Problem-Solving A3s, etc.)  
     •Developing and applying visual control dashboards with Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) 
     •Assuring common improvement opportunities are implemented consistently within the platform and across the crews

 

Delivery
• Identify opportunities to improve maintenance execution and equipment reliability, take the lead in addressing these opportunities or engaging the right resources 
• Develop an offshore schedule and ensure work preparation for all Maintenance and operation activities to meet Preventative Maintenance (PM), Corrective Maintenance (CM), and schedule compliance targets 
• Maintain a clear overview of all released backlog, prioritize when to bring the work into the schedule for execution 
• Keep in contact with planners and responsible personnel from all work streams for job execution deliverables and constraints 
• Works closely with contract leaders (Heavy focus on safety & execution plan including hours, resources, materials) 
• Keep informed of available work center capacities and campaign periods, highlighting upcoming constraints in time to mitigate them
• Make suggestions on changes to trade mix to fit estimated work (Move resources based on area needs and business rules) 
• Keep track of periods for specialty services 
• Responsible for Frozen, Firm, and fixed schedules and their readiness 
• Keep up to date with the 90-day plans, particularly in relation to equipment stops, outages, shutdowns, and specialist services for efficiencies in scheduling multiple work centers: 
     •Submit Proposed 90-day schedule in standard format  
     •Adjust 90-day schedule  
     •Communicate updated 90-day schedule 
• Prepare a draft schedule for the Weekly Scheduling meeting by reviewing:  
     •14 and 90-day IAP looking for outages, shutdowns, etc. 
     •All work with the status of Ready to Schedule (RSCH)  
     •Manpower capacity  
     •Equipment availability  
     •Contractor/vendor availability 
     •Work Order Priority 
     •Work Order basic dates and Last Allowable Finish Date (LAFD) 
• Acquire approval of schedule 
• Communicate the schedule 
• Coordinate/Facilitate all scheduled cycle meetings (Address conflicts by exception, apply business rules) 
     •Notification Review Meeting 
     •Work Preparation Status Meeting 
     •Inspection Review Meeting 
     •Material Status Meeting 
     •7-14 Day Scheduling Meeting 
     •Yesterday, Today, Tomorrow (YTT) Daily Scheduling Meeting
     •History Review Meeting
• Be proficient in the use of SAP or the current maintenance management software; the LS shall be able to use this software to generate and edit work orders as well as order materials 
• Provide subject matter expertise in the usage of SAP for maintenance Planning & Scheduling 
• Work within systems that produce metrics to track scheduling effectiveness compliance 

 

Cost
• Key decisions in contractor selection for services, materials, and material supplier selection to provide the most cost-effective plans for work to be executed within the requested timeline • Identifies clashes and opportunities impacting costs 
• Weekly Cost Control meetings 

 

People
• Promote and Provide Maintenance and Scheduling support to all personnel 
• High emphasis on customer focus 
• Professional manner/ability to interface with all levels of the organization 
• Jointly agreeing upon personal performance objectives with the manager and implementing/maintaining management and career development to improve and enhance contribution to the overall team and safety of the facility  
• Reviewing personal performance objectives and progress with manager • Actively engaging in the sharing of technical knowledge with team members and Logistics Specialists on other Hess facilities

 

QUALIFICATIONS
Knowledge & Skills
• Excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to work with minimal supervision in a diverse, multidiscipline, team-oriented environment 
• Knowledge of preventive and predictive maintenance practices and principles. 
• Skill in the use of scheduling tools such as Gantt charts, resource histograms, and CMMS scheduling modules 
• Skill in assessing and prioritizing work based on critical systems and equipment requirements, project commitments, age of work orders, resource availability, and customer satisfaction 
• Skill in working with supervisors to communicate priorities and assign resources required 
• Skill in using a maintenance scheduling system (Prometheus) 
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills 
• Leadership, coaching, and influencing skills 
• Effective written and oral communication skills 
• Strong organizational skills with the demonstrated ability to prioritize tasks 
• Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines 
• Strong knowledge of SAP or other CMMS with the ability to learn and use SAP 
• Proficient computer skills with the Microsoft 365 suite. (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, Teams)

 

Experience
• 5+ years’ experience in maintenance work and projects 
• Experience working offshore deepwater is desirable 
• Experience with maintenance of rotating equipment, including turbines, generators, and centrifugal pumps

 

Education, Training & Certifications
• Bachelor’s degree preferred; minimum requirement is High School diploma or GED equivalent required 
• Obtaining and maintaining Helicopter Underwater Escape Training (HUET)
