The position

By joining our team in Exploration & Production International you will have the opportunity to work as an Operations & Maintenance Senior Instrument Technician on Mariner A, located north-east of Aberdeen.

Your role will include:

  • Supervising the safe and efficient execution of replacement, repair and preventive maintenance.
  • Developing and reviewing maintenance related procedures.
  • Ensuring safe and efficient use of vendors, contractors and sub-contractors.
  • Assist with the planning and coordination for all maintenance and repair work, ensuring that technician productivity is maximised and that work on major equipment is aligned with other disciplines.
  • Monitoring the work performed by the Instrumentation team, including apprentices and allocated contract vendor, and take ownership for personnel’s continuous development through performance evaluations, coaching and training.
  • Understand and adhere to company Safety Management System work processes and procedures specific to the role.
  • Having a solutions orientated approach at all times; thinking not just about what you & your team deliver, but how you deliver is of equal importance.
  • Working onboard Mariner B for the 5th week and as business needs demand, as well as occasionally working from the Kingswells office in line with business requirements.
  • Having a flexible working approach; at times overtime and additional time-out of the scheduled rota may be necessary to cover shortfalls or high-workload demands, as well as responding during “off-shift” time offshore, when there is an operational demand e.g., plant upset.

For this position, we are also looking for:

  • Strong experience of working offshore in a similar role within an oil and gas / hydrocarbon environment.
  • Either a recognised core Instrument Trade apprenticeship, an Engineering Degree or a HNC/ONC in a relevant trade.
  • Competent in the use of SAP Maintenance Management system, for Notifications, Work Orders and Material Management.
  • Ability to lead a team of technicians including vendors, ensuring clear and concise communication and that any performance issues are managed effectively.

Other key skills required include experience and demonstrable competency in fault finding, maintaining and operating on some of the following equipment:

  • LM2500 DLE Turbines or similar.
  • Field Instruments.
  • Bentley / Vibration Monitoring Equipment.
  • Micronet / Generator Control Systems.
  • Kongsberg / Distributed Control System (SAS).
  • Control Valve Assemblies.
  • Air Compressors.
  • HVAC Systems – Dampers / Instruments related to HVAC.
  • Telecom & Metering (advantageous).

Training certification requirements:

  • Electricity at Work Regulations.
  • IEE Wiring Regulations (17th Edition).
  • COMPEX.
  • SBT01 / SBT02 / TSBT01 / TSBT02 / TSBT 03.
