Description:

ConocoPhillips Canada is looking for an Operating Integrity Specialist to add to our Canada Operations Team. This role will provide technical and tactical support to develop and lead the Operating Integrity program in the Canada Business Unit, comprising of Procedures, Training, Competency, and OI verification strategies. The Operating Integrity Specialist will work closely with the field execution teams, field leadership teams, HSE team, and process safety team to ensure key programs are well developed, revalidated, and efficiently implemented to meet COP & regulatory Process Safety requirements. The successful candidate will interface with Operations, Maintenance, Operations Services, Engineering, Construction, and Drilling and Completions teams to ensure that process safety objectives are achieved.

This position is based out of our Surmont and/or Montney asset, on a 14 on 14 off rotation with camp and flight coverage provided.  Occasional travel to the other Canadian asset and Calgary office will be required.

Responsibilities:

  • Support and comply with the policies, goals, efforts, and programs of CPC’s Health, Safety and Environmental (HSE) Management System. Ensure HSE issues are given primary consideration in all activities undertaken within area of responsibility. Unsafe acts and/or conditions, no matter in what area of responsibility, are to be reported so corrective actions can be taken.
  • Responsible for the development, revalidation, and implementation of the key Operating Integrity pillars in Canada including procedures, training, competency, and Operating Integrity verification.
  • Lead the revalidation, implementation, and field verification strategies of asset critical procedures such as (but not limited to) Lockout Tagout, Permit to Work, and Barrier Management.
  • Lead Operating Integrity culture in the field.
  • Champion the ConocoPhillips Process Safety Fundamentals in the field.
  • Champion the Life Saving Rules in the field.
  • Works closely with audit teams to understand and develop Canada BU Operating Integrity opportunities for improvement and corresponding actions.
  • Lead the Surmont and/or Montney Operating Integrity Committee.
  • Facilitate Investigations and Learning Teams for Operating Integrity related incidents.
  • Collaborate with peer Business Units to leverage Operating Integrity learnings and improvement opportunities.  Support and promote a One Canada Operating Integrity culture.
  • Support Lockout Tagout variation requests where isolation standards cannot be met.
  • Champion safety critical communications in the field.
  • Verification of procedure effectiveness and utilization in the field.
  • Support Task Risk Assessment development for high-risk execution scope.
     

Required Qualifications:

  • Power Engineering Certification, Bachelor of Science in Engineering, or Technical Diploma.
  • 10+ years of operations, process safety, or engineering experience within a complex process plant environment.
  • Strong collaboration and influential leadership skills.
  • Demonstrate ability to work independently and on multi-disciplinary teams.
  • Strong written and verbal communication, interpersonal, teamwork and problem-solving skills.
  • Commitment to personnel and process safety.
  • Legally authorized to work in Canada on a full-time basis without restrictions
     

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience in the development and implementation of Operating Integrity governance.
  • Experience in Control Room Operations.
  • Ability to influence the organization at all levels.
  • 2+ years of field leadership experience.
  • Proven ability to work cross functionally with Technical Safety, Asset Integrity, Operations, Maintenance, Engineering, and HSE.
