HYBRID ELIGIBILITY
This position works a hybrid schedule, spending time remotely and in the office in Minot, ND. The current hybrid schedule provides flexibility to collaborate in the office Tuesdays through Thursdays and work from home Mondays and Fridays. With our 9/80 feature you get time off every other Friday when you work at least 80 hours over the preceding nine days.
Roles & Responsibilities
The Operational Technology Network Administrator is part of the MR&I OT Team supporting field networks and communications infrastructure for both Upstream and Midstream North Dakota Assets. This position performs day-to-day support and provides high-level design, component selection, and network modeling and analysis. This role is critical to maintaining and improving the field network cyber security landscape. It interacts closely with the Field Automation, Operations, and Cyber Security functions in support of network reliability, availability, and continuous improvement.
The primary areas of focus for this role include:
- Operational Control
- Drives embedment of Hess safety procedures, best practices and standard work as defined by the expectation of a safety leader. This includes ensuring compliance with company safety policies and procedures, as well as, lead, perform, and/or participate in 5S, accident investigation, safety audits and related activities
- Performs work activities necessary to plan, design, acquire, develop, implement, support, and maintain OT PCD Networks
- Implements technology solutions to optimize the effectiveness of the OT PCD environment, and helps develop appropriate procedures and guidelines
- Acts as the first line of technical support in problem resolution for a variety of OT PCD network components in support of Hess upstream/midstream operations
- Provides technical knowledge, leadership, and skill in support of special projects
- Implements a variety of security and compliance related controls for the OT PCD environment to protect against cyber threats
- Functions as a project lead for small projects
- Establishes and implements disaster recovery and business continuity processes, tools, and procedures

- Participate in root cause analysis and problem solving for hot spots identified through continuous monitoring of the server and network configurations

Work Environment
- Office based role (Tioga/Minot) 5/2 (9/80) work schedule. Regular travel between Minot and Tioga offices and field locations is required.
Experience/Skills
- Demonstrates knowledge of and/or ability to learn following skills:
- Strong understanding of Industrial networking practices to include TCP/IP, client/server functions, and hardware/software architectures.
- Familiarity with Layer 2 and Layer 3 networking
- System optimization strategies to provide a reliable, scalable, and sustainable environment to minimize data loss and ensure high data integrity
- Familiarity with NAS and SAN technology products
- Experience with network management and monitoring tools such as Solarwinds and IP Address Management (IPAM)
- Expert communication skills necessary to convey the mechanics and technical aspects of network architecture and configuration to system operators and other OT PCD staff as necessary
- Ability to effectively analyze the impact of enhancements and product upgrades and implement changes in a process managed manner
- Possess strong written and verbal communications skills with ability to lead, coach, and train others
- Excellent collaboration and interpersonal communication skills
- Strong analytical, technical, and problem-solving skills
- Able to work in fast-paced, constantly changing production environment
- Strong organization, time management, prioritization and planning skills and able to manage multiple tasks with tight deadlines
Education/Training
- Bachelor’s in Computer Science or related technical field or 3+ years work experience in network administration
- High school diploma or equivalent required.
- Must have valid driver’s license.
